Shockingly bad choice of opponent. At least it's pretty apparent that he knows he's not very good. Great fighters do not take these fights.
Good point Bone. They want us to pay for this experiment. Whose fault is it that Pavlik came close to 180lbs last time. We the fans want to see good competative fights, especially on PPV, and this fight wouldn't be it. Pavlik is obviously finished at 160. He's just too big for it. Team Pavlik are just stuck in the middle performing pointless experiments. Even if Pavlik completely dominated Vera, it still doesn't prove that he'd look good against the top fighters, and since Pavlik is getting older, he'd still always battle making 160 on top of preparing for his opponents. Time to move up and get better trainers/managers.
So Haglar never fought a half blind and shot to **** Ray Seales?Arguello's loss to 6-6 Jorge Reyes is a mistake on the historical record? The Cotto/Gomez fight was just a mass halucination?ESPN must have done some amazing special effects to convince us that was Paul Williams in there with Ande Kolle, right? You ****ing idiot!
So, did Pavlik get moved to the main event? If not, your post is pointless. KP said he would fight in November WAY back in May. The fact that it ended up on this card is pure coincidence.
Come on man. All the fight are supposed to support the main event, which some people don't care about because of Margarito's reputation. Top Rank hopes to make a lot of money out of this and should give us good competitive fights.
Vera's a tougher opponent than Edouard and would make a better fight than Lorenzo. And honestly, he's a step or two up from Espino. I have no problem with Vera, considering this is basically a warm-up fight. At least I know it will be exciting for the 4 or 5 rounds it lasts.
How many "Champions" have a re-match clause put into their contracts, & then after losing, say...thanks but no thanks, I'd rather fight a bum on an undercard right around the same time that the guy who beat me is fighting. Kind of like when he cancelled the fight with Williams, & then fought a bum 2 weeks later. Pavlik is the perfect example of somebody who keeps doing the same **** over & over again, but expects different results.
To be fair to Pavlik his last fight was a loss. He was at the stage in his career where he could afford a loss or 2 but 2 in a row I'm not so sure. Smart move to get a top 30 ranked fighter versus a top 5. He can step it up in his next fight after this. Some people are way too fickle.
Golovkin is actually on the card:happy That was confirmed today. That's excellent news, and a great opportunity to showcase this kid in front of 60-70,000 fans, and a couple million TV viewers.
No ****! Vera beat Lee and Demers. Edouard hasn't been worth a **** since Jermain knocked him out following his brutal war with Gibbs. Lorenzo has 3 losses, a long list of wins over no-hopers, and his best win is Dionisio Miranda who is about 60% as good as the other Miranda.
Golovkin is Kazakh so he fought his entire career on the road dummy. And, no, he's not a German citizen nor he plans to become one, he simply fight abroad because his chances are better to make it. Now I'd love him to see on the undercard AND televised, but I'm not sure HBO's gonna pick him up. If he fights a live body, they should, Golo is definitely TV-quality.
