Oisin ***an and an ancient Marco Antonio Barrera....Who did Gamboa fight before he got his shot at a title?? this list goes on and on.... Its fairly reasonable to expect that with Lee's decent profile, decent record and suspected flaws that some middleweights might see him as a viable option with which to defend their title at some stage...

 

yeah possibly,my point is that the fights a viable option for the near future...

it makes perfect sense for a card that needs to shift extra tickets. As its Cotto it wont.

 

Amir Khan was a PPV fighter that sold 20,000 tickets for his fights.

Gamboa faced plenty of ranked guys.

I see your point but let get real Andy Lee has stepped up once in his career and he got stopped. Ive heard the excuses but in his toughest fight he lost. Until he fights someone better than Vera and wins, talk of world titles is premature.

 

I'm not saying he should fight for a world title next. All i'm saying is that if he wants to be in a position to challenge by mid-way through next year (which is what he stated), then going for Duddy and then possibly someone like Chavez (or someone else) is a good route....

 

I know it doesn't make it right. but thats how boxing works. thats why Amir Khan had a title shot (well one of the reasons) because he was PPV in the UK without fighting anyone of real notoriety. Also, he stepped up and got sparked by prescott, within 2 fights he had a title.

Doesn't make it right, but it happens. Cant blame the fighters or their fans for wanting their boxer to get to the top as soon as possible....

 

But Andy is in a position where he could fight some better guys, he has the profile and the connections but he isn't.

I think going to Germany to fight any of those ****s is the wrong plan...

Its hard to get promoters to pit young prospects against other young prospects. Lee is talking about fighting Duddy and Macklin and Pirog. He'll take these fights. Obviously he wants bigger fights too.....

Also, it must be noted that he had a lot of injuries which kept him from progressing. He's fight one low ranked guy and then get injured and wouldn't fight for 5 months, therefore couldn't dive straight back in with a top 15 guy.

Having said that, if he doesn't step it up within the next 6-8months, I would start to get concerned....

 

Macklin is the fight he should go for but Barker is there also.

 

Or else he could try for a crack at Jacobs

 

Agreed about barker, just forgot to put him in...

I doubt Jacobs management would take a Lee fight so soon...

 

I think there are enough domestic fights there that we should be able to find out who is the best and then get that guy into a title fight.
