    im so glad someone finally set the record strait on Hopkins, that man has been through **** alot of people would break down and cry just from the thought of, and too do all he's done, and the **** he did to a prime Pavlik, can they name one of these 10-second highlight reel fighters have done that kinda ****??
    They cant and thats why Bernard might not be an ATG (a term which is overused in my opinion) but he is a Great HOF caliber fighter

DROP HIS UNIFIED TITLES IN EXCHANGE FOR FIGHTING A YOUNG TARVER, THE SAME YOUNG INEXPERIENCED TARVER THAT PUT YOUR ****ING HERO TO SLEEP IN THE CORNER WITH ONE PUNCH?

    Holy **** are you actually judging Jones' career by his Calzaghe performance? Do you really think that he was anywhere near his best at that point?

    Reflex and speed based fighters like jones fall hard and fast.

    By the way, to set the record straight, I was a Roy Jones Jr homer in the past but have become a much smarter boxing fan with age, and I know Roy Jones was a cherry picker who fought guys like Pazienza after Paz was basically crippled from a car crash and shouldn't have been boxing anymore. The great Roy Jones Jr fought in so many WARS!

    WOW what a ****ing career beating the likes of Jerry ****ing Lucas and people still point to the ****ing Pazienza fight as his "greatest performance". Give me a ****ing break.

    I think he means that Hopkins can stay consistent with age because of his style, where-as Jones is the opposite.

    I'm a big fan of both fighters

    anyway, this thread isn't about jones v hopkins. it's about fans justifying cherry-pickers, there have been FAR worse cherrypickers than these two guys.

    It sure looked like you were comparing the two of them based off the JC fights(a stupid comparison), so I mentioned it.

    Yes, Roy Jones doesn't have the best comp. But he is arguably the best p4p of the 90's, the only one else with similar accomplishments and H2H ability during the time was Whitaker. You're going after Jones' resume quite a bit, but Hopkins' isn't airtight either. Like I said, he's never really beaten a great middleweight in any impressive fashion. At least Jones has a raw Hopkins under his belt at that weight.... Hopkins really got most of his greatest W's over blown up WW's. He's had some good victories past prime like Pavlik, but he doesn't have a complete resume in any sense either.

    No, let's tell the truth, Roy Jones Jr was the most publicized fighter of the 90's and it was based on his highlights against fighters such as Glen Kelly and Montell Griffin.

    You don't win 27 straight title fights fighting "mostly blown up WW's"

    Nobody who actually watched every one of Hopkins's fights would say that.

    I love how you site "ability" in your post. Ability is what someone CAN do, not what someone DOES under the most EXTREME AND INTENSE CIRCUMSTANCES.

    "Ability" ha.

    So if someone wants to sight Roy Jones as the best fighter of the 90's, have at it, show me that you buy hype.

    What did I expect your hero Hopkins to do? How about fight Jones Jr and Calzaghe when they were prime for career high earnings instead of ducking them and fighting them when it meant nothing. Your right though Howard Eastman and Robert Allen were bigger fights :lol:

    Tarver was 37 when Hops beat him, Joens beat a better Tarver and thats Hopkins best win :lol: Jones beat a prime Hopkins with 1 hand :lol:

    Jones got knocked the **** out by Tarver. A ****ing counterpuncher. Tarver isn't even an aggressive fighter.

    CHAMPIONS WHO HAVE UNIFIED A DIVISION DON'T DROP BELTS TO MOVE UP A WEIGHT CLASS, HOPKINS CLEANED OUT THE MIDDLEWEIGHT DIVISION, CLEANED IT OUT.

    Talk about caps all you want, your smiley faces are antagonistic and smiley faces are what ****** hype buying non-hardcore boxing fans use on here.

    No Hopkins managed to fight MW bums amongst the blow up WWs :yep I love the way you hyping up those Robert Allen trilogy while. The best MW around when Hops was at MW were Jones, McClellan, Reggie Johnson, Jermain Taylor. He fought 2 of them and got schooled 3 times, the end :yep

    Roy got knocked out after he had already established his greatness. If fans are to blame for one thing, its being so fickle and putting too much emphasis on a loss, like you just have. Roy beat Hopkins, beat Toney, beat Virgil Hill, beat McCallum, beat Ruiz, beat Tarver, and many more. You say "oh but he got knocked out".
