To say that Roy Jones has had a better career than Bernard Hopkins is pure fanboy talk and you've already been called out in this thread by someone who knows your history, as someone with a hard-on for Roy Jones Jr so your OPINION DOESN'T MATTER. I'm not a Hopkins fan and truth be told I was a huge Roy Jones fan back in the day. I hate Hopkins but I'm not gonna sit here like a dick toting ****** overrating Roy Jones's cherry picking ass.
A post I made previously I watched this yesterday for the first time in years, I didnt think of it as a great fight at the time but it was an excellent contest and certainly the most competitive of Jones career. I'd recommend watching it and its below in 720p HD Tarver really lays into Roy on the ropes at times landing big clean shots and is really kicking the **** out of Roy at times. Around the 10th I think it was he lands a huge overhand right very clean that hurt Roy. But then when Tarver was hurting Jones he fired back. I had Jones outlanding and outhustling Tarver in most rounds also looks severely past it in this 1, around the 5th I think it was Jones mouth started hanging open as he was taking huge gasps of air. Foreman commentates on Jones losing so much muscle and looking like a middleweight against a much bigger Tarver [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2g1KsdUAPdE"] This content is protected [/ame] [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2g1KsdUAPdE"] This content is protected [/ame] [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MuxUh9o8rug"] This content is protected [/ame] [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ayF7XnoILVU&feature=related"] This content is protected [/ame]
4 years removed from prison, not prime. Anyone who says Hopkins was in his prime when he fought Roy the first time lives in a fantasy land.
Why don't you tell everyone again how Bornard won 28 world title fights and how Jones isnt as good because he only won 23. Don't let the facts get in the way of it
Roy really put his balls on the table with that one didn't he? Fighting a guy with 22 fights worth of experience and ending up like this in the rematch: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IN6042XXKME[/ame]
I think that when people make the atg rankings in a couple of years RJJ is going to be a bit higher than Hopkins. He beat Toney and became a champ from MW to HW. Hopkins had a great MW run but some of his most important wins are against considerably smaller fighters like Oscar, Tito, Winkey and more recently Pavlic. To his credit some of these fighters were considered invincible when he fought them - Tito and Pavlic and he was never beaten convincingly except for the first RJJ fight. When we compare the two of them I think we can take away there 2 matches. In the first match Hopkins wasn't still in his prime and in the second RJJ was past it. Alijab I don't know why do you hate RJJ so much. I don't like him a lot he was too arrogant for my test a bit overrated but still a great fighter in his prime
Naw I don't hate him, I was one of those guys who bought the Roy Jones greatest knockouts DVD and literally watched it so many times I wore it out and had to download another copy. I'm a huge Roy Jones fan and hated Hopkins, still hate Hopkins because I think he's an ass. That being said, Roy is overrated man, along with Tyson, Pac-man and Floyd.
You're describing casual boxing fans, not the hardcore fans. Us die hards like guys like Wlad, we even watch fox sports network to see mexicans we have never even heard of fight each other. The casual fan likes quick action packed brawls, but those fans aren't on a boxing forum all the time.
Seriously. Jones made a career of fighting guys bigger than him. Hopkins did the opposite. Pretty simple, really. Just watching DLH/ Hopkins is laughable not only for the bogus body shot, but for the fact Hops is so much bigger than Oscar.
I'm a bigger fan of BHop than Roy because I like his style more, but putting aside all bias I can admit that a prime Roy Jones was superior p4p than a prime Hopkins.
