Hatton was promoted as a mans' man (huge gap in the market and hatton is a very likeable guy with an exciting style) he was also last of an era, benn-eubank-collins-calzaghe-bruno-naz, Hatton just caught the crest of the wave and surfed on it for years (fair play to him btw). As much as hatton gets ripped into on here, no brit will ever get a bigger fanbase imo. Top 4 statement was simialr in boxing to ODLH, Mayweather, Pacquiao, Barrera are all names that joe bloggs know.
So he went to ITV for £00.00. When in your previous 3 PPV fights you don't sell enough for the PPV to make a profit............your not a PPV fighter. I have watched UFC maybe twice in my entire life.........
Just though I would give a quick update on viewing figures since I last did this in May. 04/06 Hall-Napa - 90,000 (SS2 #5) 11/06 McCloskey-Lauri - 112,000 (SS2 #1) 25/06 Fury-McDermott II - 118,000 (SS2 #2) 31/06 Prizefighter (Super Middleweights) - 112,000 (SS1 #7) 02/07 McDonnell-Bracco - 66,000 (SS2 #3) 09/07 Laws-Williams - 59,000 (SS2 #6) 16/07 Hatton-Nuzhenko - 166,000 (SS1 #4) 23/07 Hall-Power - 89,000 (SS2 #7) 04/09 Roman Martinez-Ricky Burns - 141,000 (SS1 #6) Replay 44,000 (SS2 #10) 11/09 Wladimir Klitschko-Samuel Peter - 202,000 (SS1 #6) You can find the full figures I made on the first page if you are interested.
I thought Prizefighter got 3x the viewers of a friday fight night??? Be interesting to see what the numbers our for regular british/commonwealth title fights on a saturday compared to fridays. To point European games will get 300-400k on tuesdays and wednesdays. goes to double for the mega games.
Prizefighter does do well but not that well it's just a bit more consistent then regular FNF did. Interestingly no Champions League games on the 14th or 15th made into the top 10 for Sky Sports 1 (#10 was Super League 94,000) or 2 (#10 was US Open 77,000) or in the Top 30 of ITV (#2.89 million) for that week so figures for Champions League group games are actually poor which doesn't surprise me.
I love this thread royalt0208 hope we can keep this up and see if moving to saturdays and thechanges made to theboxing programme on sky have any effect on viewing figures. Interesting that the name Hatton draws a fewmore figures than the usual FFN
Cheers mate I will do my best to keep it up to date. I was surprised by that as well because I thought Matty couldn't draw **** but apparently his name does draw if those figures are anything to go by.
Of course ye sorry those figures for Burns and the Booth/klit fights are a good sign up by probably 30-40%
They look decent but both where stacked world level shows, so it will be interesting to see how John Murray and then the Steve Foster fights do.
Thats true its good to see it getting good figures regardless. What it shows is if the good quality fights are made people will watch
1. Its w/e 12th September - the numbers for the w/c 13th September (inc. 14th and 15th) will be released next week. 2. Champions League tends to be shown on Sky Sports 2. 3. They usually do pretty damn well, varies on which British team is playing, but one game usually tops the channel's viewing figures for that week.
