Should you have to beat 'good' opposition to win the Lonsdale outright?

Should you have to beat 'a certain level of competition' in order to win the Lonsdale belt outright. It is a very prestigious title and after three defences you keep it. Paul Smith will win his outright against Paul David (12-5), a fighter levels below British title class. Should the board introduce a rule that unless you beat quaility domestic fighters you don't win it outright?

I think they could be stricter in their sanctioning of fights for the British title yes.

You should have to beat good opposition to win any title.

Don't see how you can really, I think if the board sanction it as a title bout it has to count. Now if you want them to be stricter on what they sanction that's a whole separate argument.
