i would like to say louis, but dunno.louis did annihilate max baer, but i think foreman would bring more pressure and action than baer, and i don't know if louis can take it if foreman catches him.somebody is going to get stopped no doubt.great slugfest
Foreman wins this. Joe Louis never felt that type of power in his life. But.....Louis has a chance. His fast hands could KO Foreman, but if Foreman catches him first, it's over.
Yes he did. Max Baer had comparable power to Foreman and Louis just shrugged it off like it was nothing. Power was only an issue against Louis, if it is backed up by unpredictability.
I agree, Baer is absolutely in Foreman's class as a puncher. The question is, in a composite sense, is Foreman in Walcott's?
I didn't realize Max Baer was in Foreman's league in terms of punching power. Well, if that's the case, Joe Louis all the way. But wait a minute; Joe said that Rocky Marciano was the hardest puncher he faced. So does that mean that Rocky hits harder than Max Baer, who hits as hard as Foreman?
Louis ! Why not ? Foreman never fought against a top counter-puncher like Joe...Slow hands vs Counter-Puncher Fast Hands...Louis by TKO
It's one of those fights where you can't say anything for sure, but I favour Louis. Foreman is not as skilled, but he knew how to get the job done by cutting off the ring and physically overwhelming most opponents. Louis had more ways to win, he could match Foreman with his shorter punches, or simply outlast him if it goes until the later rounds, but Foreman is a great threat to Louis in the early rounds. Louis suffered from some defensive lapses and was prone to getting caught cold and there are few who could exploit such a weakness as well as Foreman.
I favor Louis in a fight that resembles the Baer fight, but a bit tougher, as Foreman was tougher and a little bit better in terms of raw power and strength. Still, this was the type of guy Louis feasted on in his prime. Bad style matchup for young George. Older George would have more success here than his younger self, ironically.
Galento (one-punch) and Schmeling put Louis down. Neither fighter wants to back up. If Louis backs up, then he loses.
I think Foreman would KO Louis. Louis would be countering him but Foreman would stop Louis with his heavy, clubbing swings.
So Baer landed his absolute best blows and Louis shrugged them off like they were nothing? You think Louis would shake off Foreman's best blows? Why was Louis hurt or dropped numerous times vs lesser punchers?
louis got hurt by punches that he didnt see coming..but took punches he saw great..thats true of all fighters to some extent..but was really true of louis. i guess the thinking is louis would see Foremans relatively slow lopping punches.
