So if I’m reading this correctly, it was 50k for Groves and the counter was inferior? Some sources would be appreciated.
If this is fact, then it is a clear duck by Hayemaker. Warren has pushed his chips in and they have folded. This was massive opportunity for Groves to become a big name in the sport. Proving the fight is a competitive battle, even in defeat, Groves would have raised his profile and enhanced his career. DeGale has a love/hate following so I’m sure Groves would have had a lot of support. If he wins the fight, it would be a real statement for Hayemaker. Franks stable dwarfs them so I guess they believe they couldn’t handle a defeat to one of their prospects like he would.

I reckon we get Purse bids next year. if Groves of DeGale win the British title in the next 6 months, theres no doubt who the mandotory would be.

Shauny you have summed it up perfectly....but I still see it as a duck from Groves.

DeGale only mentions Groves when he is asked about him.

How come you still see it as a duck?

I just see both Degale and Groves as pawns a the moment. It doesn't matter how much either wants the fight, the promoters aren't going to let it happen unless it's on their terms. They could go to thier promoter and beg for the fight to be made, but it aint going to happen

No one said the offer was inferior, just that it is less than DeGale's normal payday.

So it may be that DeGale was offered 75k (Booth has previously offered him £50k to fight Groves) but he normally recieves 100K.

Remember this press release is from Sports Network who will clearly twist it in their favour.

Sorry its a duck from Booth not from Groves. Grovsey would have signed for £7.

My problem with this is if Sports Network release a press release Hayemaker need to react.

The same thing happend with Haye and Klitsko. K2 has press releases, were speaking to journolists getting videos on sky sports news calling Haye out telling everyone there was a good offer made to Haye. 3 months later Haye makes a a youtube video and Booth gets a paragraph in boxing news, a week later they sign to fight Audley. There just **** when it comes to PR.

Did Groves specify who was going to hold the coats when he called out Degale? What about if a teacher came half way though the fight, would it be a no contest? Is kicking on the floor allowed?

I hope DeGale pulls Groves jumped over his head and then knees him in the face until he cries!!

exactly hes never top of the bill due to the early stage of his career if warrens paying the olympians 50k+ a fight he would lose on every show he run
degale will spark groves anyway if i was him i would say lets do winner takes all after all the **** groves talks he cant be seen to be bak down

That's what I think, Booth is his promoter and knows that he can make a lot more money out of Groves if he builds him up more.

However if Groves wins then he will be a maincard attraction so it may be one of those speculate to accumulate situations.

I do like the way Booth has managed Groves so far but I really want to see this fight.

Big risk from Warren as it could go either way but it would be easier to rebuild Degale due to Olympic gold and he has a lot of other fighters on his books.

For Booth this would be a massive risk as behind Haye, Groves is the only fighter they have who could in the future top a bill.
