    Doc,

Patterson was down a total of 18 times. I don't know how many times Carnera was down, but Max Baer floored him plenty. I beleive the heavyweight champion to go down the most was Ezzard Chalres who went down a total of 30 times in his career.

Currently there are two former world title holders who have never been down from a punch in Oliver McCall and Vitali Klitschko.

Wouldn't think that Charles was floored more than Patterson, who seemed to have the most fragile chin.

I would say Patterson did go down many times because he had a bad habit of fighting "offbalance" .gets caught with a decent shot, resulting in a flash knockdown.

I don't know about 30 times, but Charles likely did hit the canvas more times than Patterson, most of those times sadly during the latter part of his career along with the early Lloyd Marshall fight in which he went down 8 times. Patterson was knocked down about 20 times, most of them against Johansson and Liston.

Weaver was down a ton as well. He had been on the deck a ton of times before the Holmes fight even.

Vitali was down against Sanders ,though it was not counted. He was also dropped in sparring at least twice by Raphael Butler, and Travis Walker in the La Bre Boxing Academy Gym ,in 2005. There is a rumour that David Price also knocked him down but its unconfirmed.
I would not mention it ,as I set no great store by incidents in sparring but I know you do,[ when it suits you] so I have.
