Yeah because Mercer, Holy, Foreman, Moorer, Bowe, etc all BOXED him. They all danced on the outside and pecked away points wins LOL :patsch Have you even seen the Mercer fight? Mercer came into the fight with a swollen gland, left with a cheek the size of a basketball after going into the trenches for 10 rounds with Cooper and it was Cooper who was decked and outpointed. The other names I mentioned all went into the trenches with Cooper, including the chinny Michael Moorer and all emerged with KOs. Look what Reggie Gross, who Tyson blasted out with ease in 1 round did to Cooper. Sure, Cooper was the ultimate tough guy...

You failed to mention that Ray Mercer is 6'1" with a 77 inch reach. He also has the strongest chin in history....he went the distance with a shot one year lay off Holyfield, your hero got brutally stopped by him.

Now I'm not saying Cooper is a world beater, but he is an all time great puncher who Tyson matches up very very poorly against. Too bad Mike didn't have your confidence, otherwise we wouldn't even be discussing this fantasy match up. The contract was written but your hero got cold feet and opted to faced Buster Douglas instead.....had that been Cooper the fight would have been over much sooner. Bert went on to bravely fight and destroy Orlin Norris, the real number one contender Paper Mike had been ducking. Word!

True. Earnie Shavers would have been world champion,if boxing was only about how hard a guy could hit.

He also got dominated by holmes and ferguson, who Tyson destroyed. Mercer wasnt exactly a worldbeater either. I dont think Tyson matches up poorly with Cooper in the least. Cooper never lived up to his potential and isnt in Tysons class. History agrees with me.

I scored it the way fights should be scored, impartially. I know everything about professional boxing scoring. If a judge keeps giving the house fighter the benefit of the doubt he’s a good judge and the promoter will use him again. There is no such thing as a right or wrong decision, just a popular or unpopular one. In professional boxing a popular judge is a good judge. I accept I am in the minority here and even though I (and not you) am a qualified judge I’m still not arrogant enough to disrespect anyone who disagrees with me. It is entirely personal opinion. I personally think in most cases the tillis fight deserved a split verdict, it was close enough.

I think you let your self down here klompy. Very insulting, ignorant and dare I say it, racist. fortunatly I have a thick skin. It is a shame you stoop to this because some times you almost appear to know what you are talking about.

Though I respect your right to your opinion, being a qualified judge is nothing to brag about. I have see so many miserable decisions, even at the championship level, over the last 3 decades that I wouldn't be especially proud to belong to that cadre which delivered them...

    I find your scoring indefensible.

Awarding points for making an opponent miss? Docking aggressive fighters? Where is your source klompy? This is utter garbage. The UK rules favour the fighter landing the most punches with sufficient force. The fighter WHO does the more leading off (aggression) is actually favoured if anything. British commentators have always felt that in America points are scored merely for walking forwards but I doubt that is the case. I believe that in America fighters who do the most damage are more popular. Popular fighters get the benefit of the doubt in close calls in the US, just like anywhere else.

indefensible because its not how you see it? This is why I said 3 judges are beter than one. judging is never going to be perfect or absolute, just popular or unpopular.

i notice you scored the fight the same as the official verdict.

tell me, How did you score ali v doug jones?

He is a very good poster, and has a lot of knowledge on specific areas of boxing,[Greb for example]. I have to say, he isnt shy of letting you know it though
Old Fogey and he have an ongoing debate on Greb v Louis , both make good arguments , Klompton's are definitely more assertive and aggressive, but, not necessarily more convincing.

Thats a nice little lie you told there
Tyson never said anything like that....it was rumoured he had said that when proposed by Don King for a match against GEORGE FOREMAN
He decided against it becuse Cus had always said that no swarmer would ever beat Foreman

Bert Cooper dont belong in the same sentence as Iron Mike, hes just another Andrew Golota. Had all the potential but still lost to all the best fighters he fought.

    Bert Cooper who?
