Tyson revealed his fear of Bert Cooper in a 1991 issue of KO magazine. You Tyson boys really need to read more. Yeah, the Foreman bit was a rumor...but Cooper was indeed fact.

I love Cooper!! I have pretty much his entire career (what was aired anyway) on good old VHS tapes...

I love Bert Cooper as well. He was fun as hell to watch. But he wasnt a pimple on Tysons ass classwise.

 

I have some bend in my opinion but we fundamentally differ on what is the aim of professional boxing. I hold effective aggression at the fore. Perhaps one could argue the definition of "effective". However, I see it essentially as a battle of will aided by skill and physical assets. The latter of the factors possessed by Mr. Tyson repeatedly repelled the will of Mr. Tillis.

 

Who lost nearly half of his fights? Who was knocked out a whopping 14 times? Who lost to such stellar competition as Reggie Gross, Everitt Martin, A completely shot Mike Weaver (among other less than stellar lights... All you have to do is ask what this so called destroyers best win was? There is the punchline to your joke.

 

The old maxim that at the end of each round you score for the guy you would have rather been in the fight is a pretty solid, if simple, standard. I doubt if any of these armchair judges would have rather been eating the leather Tillis ate that night in the majority of the rounds. And frankly, yes I think if a fighter lands a 5 very hard punches the effect of which is telling you score the round for him even if the other guy landed 15 slapping or light blows. Im betting choklab scored Ali-Frazier 1 for Ali because Ali landed a lot more blows but at the end of the night Frazier won the decision and deservedly so because he put the heat on Ali and had him him hurt worse more often. Thats the difference between pro boxing and amateur boxing and US Boxing and British boxing. That bull**** point scoring, take no chances approach is going to lose points in the face of effective aggression.

 

-Have me and mcvey not confirmed his past prime destruction of Ring Ranked #4 Joe Savage as his best win? Joe Savage was 42-0 42 KOs. He was a certfied beast who was shamelessly ducked by Bruno and Lewis.... but he made Cooper mad, and the destroyer didn't hold back

-Tyson would have lost twice as many fights if he fought all comers like Cooper. Did Iron Mike get in the ring with prime Holyfield, Savage, Bowe, Moorer, Byrd, Sanders, and Foreman? Of course not, he had Don King to protect him and he still lost to bums like Douglas and Tillis. You also heard Evander..after Cooper killed some fighters he became a clown out of fear of killing again. Still, he was the most dangerous fighter of the 90s.

Wow, guess boxrec missed some. I can assume the additional 11 wins were all by KO as well. 53-0 53 KOs!!!! No wander Lewis and Bruno wanted no part of this animal.

 

Savage surpassed Marciano's record but the powers that be don't want anyone to know about it. Much like when Brian Nielsen was poisoned while attempting to break the record against the great Dicky Ryan.
