I like fights that are explosive and full of intense. But this one entertains me lol..:good [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N4Nz1cH4LDU[/ame]
Anyone know where that kickboxing clip of the two asian guys at 1:40 and againt a bit later is from? There is such a huge difference in size! They dont do weight classes?
beat me to it. Yeah I think some of the first MMA organizations in the 90s didnt have weight limits but the video looks more recent than that.
That's from K-1 World GP 2005. The big guy's name is Hong Man Choi and his opponent is Kaoklai Kaennorsing. I don't watch K-1 but my guess is it was one of those tournaments in which the best fighters of any size compete for a title/prize/bragging rights, kinda like the old UFC format when Royce Gracie would take on heavyweights.
I remember watching that fight and rooting for Kaennorsing. The big guy looked so clumsy but Kaoklai Kaennorsing just didn't have the power to hurt him. It was sort of ridiculous but still I enjoyed it for its sheer novelty factor. But yeah, a 7'2" and 346 lb giant fighter (2 inches taller than Valuev for comparison, and just as slow) beat a friggin 5'11" 180 lb fighter. Size over skill that time. Skill can overcome a lot... but not this freakish disadvantage.
My favorite Choi fight was when he took on Jose Canseco. I couldn't stop laughing when Canseco fell to the mat and started pointing at his knee to fake an injury so he can get out of the fight. Hysterical. I love circus fights. Don't know why majority of fight fans are against them.
Well, I guess the unfairness of it all physically combined with the risk of getting seriously injured plays a role. Still they get into that ring themselves.I hadn't seen that fight and just looked it up, but yes that was very funny, Canseco can't fight to save his life. I was mainly following K-1 at the time due to my countrymen doing very well at it. Ernesto Hoost, Mario Aerts, Remy bonjsky Semmy Schilt etc. For a non boxing fighter countryman, I still idolize Rob Kaman though (kick boxing & muay thai) . If you don't know him, look him up and watch. Mr' Low kick was frighteningly good.
When I watched that years ago it wasn't as apparent. That video is ****ing weird. Dude is obviously a Lion Lewis ball sweat sapper. Needless ****. And the kickboxing stuff is completely butthole. If I want to see a fringe sport I'll watch log cutting.
