Does anyone here remember they weren't in the same division at the point they could have been matched?
The Marvin who fought Mugabi had been off for a year and had his nose broken in sparring a half a year before, postponing the fight. Then he was not sparring much and looked soft and rusty in the fight with Mugabi. Marvin for Mugabi was not sharp at all. The last fight which Marvin looked good and was active and sharp was Hearns. Jackson in there with an active Marvin who was in shape gets stopped early enough. Mugabi would have lasted only 3 or 4 with an in shape Marvin.
styles make fights. Saying Jackson does as good as Mugabi is assuming Jackson fights the same inactive Hagler that Mugabi fought. If Jackson fought the pumped up Hagler which Hearns fought different story all together.
Hagler wasn't inactive vs Mugabi. They went at it pretty hard and Mugabi's success and power led Hagler to step back and box. That's my memory of it, if it's wrong i'll have to rewatch - been a while
