'88 Tyson would be a handful for any HW in history.

I honestly think that when Muhammad Ali was in his prime and at his peak, and with all things being equal, nobody would beat him. Im sure lots will disagree though

    Yep.

Ali is the right answer though.

That there belief of Jeffries was so sure, and unbelievable it defied logical thinking. That is how good he was.

I have no doubt Jeffries was legend-ified to unreal proportions. Iam just merely suggesting he has a case in this thread, going by contemporary views.

    Sure he was.

More, or less than Muhammad Ali? Hard to be sure.

I've been meaning to do an update post of Scott, as many of you know he is in the last stages of Lou Gehrigs disease and the doctors had given him only until this past April to live. Scott is still battling to live every day the good Lord gives him. Those who talk to their maker please keep the Fighting Frenchman in your prayers as I know Scott would say thank you personally.

I don't think you should put that much emphasis on contemprorary opinion, certainly not in the pre-film era. I don't think it is a coincidence that fighters were mythologized the most during this era.

Jeffries was certainly very, very good at his peak, but still had very tough fights with Tom Sharkey and old versions of Fitz and Corbett.

Jeffries was a superstar in his day, like Sullivan before and Dempsey after him.

Nah, why should it be? Those guys were the best back then and did what they could. What´s laughable about that?
