    Howard Eastman upset

Former world title challenger Howard Eastman (46-7, 36 KO’s) of Guyana surprisingly lost to countryman Kwesi Jones (6-1, 3 KOs) by four round unanimous decision. The middleweight bout took place at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall, in Georgetown, Guyana. Eastman unsuccessfully challenged Bernard Hopkins for the unified middleweight world titles in 2005.

Eastman is a classic example of a fighter who wasted his career. Supremely talented and now look. Loosing 4 round fights vs a novice? Why is he even fighting in a 4 rounder? This was a guy who got two shots at a middleweight title and blew both opportunitys astoundingly. Geez Eastman hang them up.

Amazed that the guy is still fighting. I think he should have retired after the Duddy loss.

I always liked Eastman but by all accounts a lazy as sin trainer and it showed in the ring. Just seemed on cruise control a lot of the time.

One fight i don't think I've seen was the Abraham fight anyone know how he looked in that?

He did the same crap that he did vs BHOP. All he brought to that fight was his chin.

To be fair, he's not the only one to be outclassed by BHOP.

I wasnt bothered too much about him being outclassed. It was the fact that DKP gave him two chances and he blew both of them. Vs Joppy he put in a half assed performance and only turned up when the fight was dam near finished in the 12th. And likewise the same Vs BHop. Eastman just never got out of 2nd gear and looked totally disinterested. It was tragic as a fan to see his talent go to waste.

The Joppy fight was certainly there for the winning, no denying that but his Hopkins effort shouldn't be put down as a blown opportunity.

He's 39 years in a 4 rounder. He last fought anyone of note 2 years ago and won by SD and MD. He's probably past it.

Eastman was so technically horrible. It's a shame because he had the chin and power to do something. He was just an awful boxer who never fufiled his potential. He should have got the Joppy win more clearly. Against X he could have made it much more competative.

Howards...Howard. The guys a enigma. I know guys who hate him and some who got mad love for the lad. He's done well...he had it hard but grafted his way to top..but his mentality wasn't right to be a champion (although he was good enough to beat Joppy but ****ed it). I ain't shocked he lost...the lads smoking the finest Guyana has to offer and enjoying life. He done a spell inside last year for possession.

Most boxers his age (he's 40 in a couple of months) packed up years ago, I don't think that we can be too harsh on him about his results today.
