Am I the only one who thinks that octagon is kind of childish and artificial invention? - More ground game. - Limits wide camera angles. - Blocks audience and makes the event look smaller than it really is. Even if I try to find positive sides of it I can't come up with single one. Any arguments for pro octagon?

definitely rings....something in line with boxing and most other MMA, boxing, kickboxing venues from around the world. A ring is allot more classy and more widely accepted worldwide (easier too) than a cage.
The vast majority of the "falling out of the ring" gifs are old and/or poorly prepaired rings with the ropes not linked together and set to the wrong tension. The best enviroment would IMHO be to use a ring with the same netting between the ropes that some of the IVC shows had. Instead of just having it between the bottom rope and the canvas have it either up to the 3rd or 4th rope. This content is protected That gives you the best of both worlds, a safe enviroment where fights don't get tangled up in the ropes but also less of a solid barrier that can be used as a weapon(mostly to stall).
Poorly prepared rings are part of the problem but no matter how tight the ropes are or if they are linked, there will always be gaps were someone can potentially fall out or exploit the rings escapablity. Notice how half of the gifs I posted were people falling through the ropes unintentionally. The other half were fighters using the ropes to escape dangerous situations. Your mesh ring concept is nice albeit unnecessary. Wall n stall is a problem that can be solved by better refereeing.
I see an enviroment that prevents the barrier of the fight area being used to stall as far prefferable to ref intervention which is always going to be delayed and inconsistant.
I think the cage is so childish because we've all grew up watching WWF/ WWE and they have the cage matches. Think I just expect people to get thrown headfirst in to the cage, some guy rub the other guys head on it and make em bleed, or somebody to go crazy and jump off the top.
Perhaps that and some Van Damme movies has made a mark in my mind.. But anyway (for me) ring gives more 'spectacle' look than metal frame. grappling is a part of MMA. it has to be expected so the cage is far superior. check out mousasi's fight where they reset into the middle of the ring, the guy got a chance to recover and they weren't event reset in the same position.
