Gotta agree with those here who aren't in huge prais of green for this.

Excuse the comparision but it reminds me of an analogy I once heard in court.
Some thug was using the fact he'd only had 2 assault charges in 4 years as mitigating circumstances as to his guilt in his latest assault charge.
The magistrate reminded him that it should be expected that he had none at all, and that "less frequent" assaults he shouldn't be congratulated for.

The same goes for green here, unfortunately as his opposition has been so woeful of late people are jumping up and down about this one.
Flores is nothing more than a fill in fight for a legit world champ, otherwise who is taking on the best. People seem to be so excited he's fighting a live body that they've totally lost sight of this, world champs should regularly fight god opposition this kind of fight should be a minimum for green

in my opinion greens taking on an opponent who is yet to prove himself similar to when he fought otis griffin at light heavyweight, i think it may be a similar result also

I'm no Green fan, but it does surprise me that very little people give him credit for thay choice of opponent.

Leading up to the fight, Griffin was faring pretty well, but from memory, he put in a bad performance.

I agree with your sentiment here, and I'm sure you meant 'good' not 'godlike' opposition.

But without in any way condoning Green fighting Siaca, Briggs, Van Nobody etc. This is 2010, and most world champions no longer fight top rated contenders on a repeat basis. That kind of stuff is confined to the history books.

Tend to agree....huge props to Green from me....he's done very well after his loss to Mundine....the RJJ fight was huge....I remember quite a few posters on here thought Roy would easy outbox him.

Flores can fight and he is big...this aint no easy fight for Green.

It's not easy to make fights these days with the comercial reality of boxing getting tougher.

Agree with you on Flores - many seem to be conveniently downplaying the fact he's a genuine cruiser, rated highly by most organisations and a 25 bout undefeated fighter.

Not sure why you've chosen to mention Mundine here, or the commercial reality of the difficulty of making fights, again?

But seeing as though you have.

How difficult was it for team Mundine to make these fights:

Falliga, Medley, Jerez, Waters & Wood - just to name his most recent.

...and how difficult would it have been to make

better match-ups than each of those bouts, and I'm not talking Cotto & Mayweather here?

....I'm only stating the obvious when I say: Not very difficult at all if they actually wanted to!

haha....I said Green has done well after his loss to Mundine.....the comercial reality was directed at Green....boxing is about getting paid and for promoters....making the most amount of money with the lowest outlay...get Mundine off you mind mate

We're on the same page here, but you're trying to do a runner again Ash!

You told me only a few days ago I 'had no idea of the commercial reality of the difficulty of making fights', and you were using it specifically in defence of Mundine.

I'm telling you something you already know, when I say Mundine could easily have fought

better, and probably significantly better opposition, without any difficulty, if they'd actually wanted to.

Care to disagree with that Ash??

You raised the 'commercial reality of making fights' dig at me in the NRL thread - clearly you change the 'rules' about threads to suit yourself mate - LOL!

Your ducking of the question above just amounts to another convenient runner from facts that don't suit you Ash!

Wouldn't bother mentioning MY 'lack of understanding of the commercial reality of making fights' again, when YOU clearly don't understand it yourself!
