Great, because Jeffries never said that to the press. Please show me the news article where he said that in quote. It does not exisit. It is fantasy picked up by a writer who has no primary source.:deal

What Jeffreis said to the press was If I were younger I would have won. I can post that. You can not post the fantasy quote which has no source.

So the Sunday score is Mendoza 1. Mcvey 0 :good

I could post it, if I could be bothered to go all through the documentary. You can see the quotes if you want they are on,
You tube,Unforgiveable Blackness part 1, both quotes are shown in a newspaper form.Unlike the supposed quote you had for Johnson, stating ,"Hart beat me good", which was never uttered by Jack, and simply made up by an unamed writer for BI

    Mendoza kod by McVey rd1.:bbb

What was the paper? When was it said? Its a myth. I have what Jeffries said directly to the press in quote without being taken out of context. He said if he was young he would have won.

As for Unforgivable blackness, the doc has its share of errors. For example they talk about Langford, then show Joe Walcott's photo.

You are only 1-0 in your small mind. :D The Hart quote was by Johnson as quoted in a Magazine. Not only did I name the magazine, I gave the date and page number. You need to learn how to do elementary research my dear Watson. Or buy Adam's book and embrace the facts.

You did not even provide the author of the article.
It has been established that The Hart Johnson fight was a close fought one,so why would Johnson make such a statement? You are the only one who beleives it,and I doubt even you really do.
If you want to know the paper and when it was said ,well it was in the 5th of JulY 1910 issue and the name of the paper is in the documentary as I TOLD YOU.

List the paper, and post the link so I can read it . Until then YOU'RE WRONG! If you care to wager time off the board, I can produce a detailed quote on Jeffries about the fight right after it happened. As I stated Jeffries said if he was younger he would have won.

A doc making a reference that has no primary source is liberal journalism at its finest.

Now as for what Johnson said, we must be careful. Johnson himself said Langford floored him, and he threw the Willard fight. He also said in interview that Hart beat him. While we can't be sure if Johnson is lying or not, Johnson's effort vs. Hart was **** poor. The one thing that all the news papers of the times agreed on is neither would have a chance vs. Jeffries in 1905:deal.

    Eslubin,

I was looking for an article with direct quotes, not headlines. Can you post the full article here? Again, I have read Jeffries right after the fight flat out saying he was a fool to come back and if he was younger he would have won.

Directly after the fight Jeffries said," I could never have beaten him in a thousand years ,I could never have reached him."

Later Jeffries ascribed his defeat to " drugged tea",and his stupid bother agreed with him.

There was obviously a time when Langford should have been given a chance against Johnson. But, i do sometimes think Langford's claims and prowess is just a touch overated sometimes. The loss to Gunboat, as well as other losses, i think are underestimated today. I am not saying they mean he had no chance against Johnson or that he wasnt the no1 contender for most of that time, just that i can understand why he wasnt the standout no 1 contender that is assumed today and that realistically, many people gave him much of a chance. I think this article would be reasonably consistent with rationale thinking at the time it was written, which substantially narrows the time that Jack should be criticised for not fighting Sam.
