He was billed as Britains Sugar Ray Leonard at one point. Very good fighter but a little fragile for the top flight pro game, I don't think he ever really recovered from the shoulder problem he had.

Like gaz, I remember him well. He appeared on the front cover of a Boxing Monthly I bought as a young'un many moons ago if my memory serves me correctly... British boxing had really high hopes for the guy.

Dislocated his shoulder, & never was the same since.

    He was very good.

I had the pleasure of meeting him at Fury McDermott II.

He is a really nice guy and comes across as very intelligent.

Would make a very good pundit but he is doing his own promotion work or something.

yeah he was good. sugar ray leonard isn't a bad comparison, he just never had his power or ring generalship. good technical skills however and tons of speed

i always wondered how he would do against someone like rocky lockridge. another underrated guy with solid technical skills but a very different style.

Exactly gaz my good man. As a young'un I used to be a fan of Boxing Monthly, & KO magazine. I ****in hated the Ring, cos it used cheap paper back then!

As a young man I used to decorate my room with posters from these mags, Herbie Hide in his Norwich shorts, James Warren, a man who beat Johnny Nelson... As you say, you had to be there, the younger generation cant google this!

Man... we lived & breathed boxing before the internet existed, how ****in cool is that? I hate growing old, but I LOVE being an old boxing fan on here, if you know what I mean.

Its a strange emotion to explain.

Yep, I know what you mean mate. Sometimes people can post stuff on here about the 1980s that looks right when they've Boxrec'd it but having been around at the time you know thats not how things happened.

    Does that make sense???:nut

Cheers Dunk! I'm voting for Flea or Mand this year, I would have voted for Slip but anyone who thinks Floyd Mayweather would beat Ray Leonard needs ****ing with a big stick!!!
