I like the look of this guy, good footwork and his height and reach for the weight are huge. I'd like to see him get the winner of Webb/Concepcion. Bob Shannon can take him up the levels but for his long term future he needs to move on from Tommy Gilmour, a better promoter could potentially take Arron on to world level in 5 or 6 years but under Gilmour domestic fights are the best he'll get.
His defence is very poor IMO and i dont think it will be long before someone tonks him!!! Not going very far IMO.
Was thinking about this today. He could be another Burns/Jhonny Nelson type fighter. Late bloomer that wasnt managed correctly early on in there career. We shall see but his height will cause all Light Middles problems.
I could see him conceivably winning a British title, but we've seen in the past his frailty (Duddy fight) and that despite his height he can be outboxed (Flournoy fight...unlucky not to get the decision in that fight, knockdown was dodgy if I remember correctly). But we have seen improvements as well, drew with the rough, tough and underrated Maxwell over 6 rounds, then a few months later won a wide enough decision over 8 rounds. I just feel that with his lack of power to keep fighters off him, we could see a Matthew Hall type fighter break him down physically and mentally over the 12 round distance. But if he gets in with the winner of Webb/Concepcion, then I think he has a good chance of picking up the British title. But I couldn't see him holding onto it for very long.
He does have limitations, but I'm looking at it from the basis of his height/reach and more importantly he is only 22 so still has a lot of time on his side. And in the future if he moves up to middleweight there isn't a massive amount of competition at British/Euro level.
very flimsy fighter, doesn't have a lot of solidity and that lets him down. Nothing to right home about really. I've noticed the few times i've seen him that he closes his eyes a lot in defence and offence, which for a fighter of his frame and height spells KTFO waiting to happen. Highlight reel stuff.
Height and reach is fine if you have a dig on you. You can really dissuade guys from marching you down then, its a powerful combination to have as the Klitschko's have shown. Arron has very little power. He has improved a great deal but I still think if he goes in there with a Duddy, who is noway near world class really, he'd get walked down and smashed up again. Even Matthew Hall would do him in about 6 rounds I reckon.
