I think there can be a legitimate argument which credits Duran for having a superior chin.

I'd just go for (far) superior defense. Mosley wouldn't have had the career he did if not for his chin, he tends to stand straight up and takes it flush on the chin most of the time.

Mosley never looked that strong at 154 though. Duran on the other hand hung in there with the likes of Barkley, Castro, Moore.

Mosley has a better chin than Duran? How would Mosley take power punches from Middleweight champions?

Yup. Barkley landed as flush as you could ever hope to land and he did it multiple times with his home run punch, the left hook. Not a great fighter, but he was a good puncher at 160lbs, and an old, blown up Duran took them...took them very, very well.

Have we seen Mosley being hit like that by a fighter as big and hard hitting as Barkley?

    That's fair to say, yeah.

Would you consider Mosley had ever been muscled at 154? Maybe Duran would be stronger up there...

He might take the odd punch or two very well, but the difference between Duran and Mosley is that Mosley would take it a lot more than Duran would. If Mosley gets hit with the Barkley hook for example, he wouldn't be slipping the follow-up punches, nor would he ever be able to fight a defensive fight against Hagler.

    Strength: Unsure

    Punch Power: Duran

    Accuracy: Duran

    Hand Speed: Mosley

    Footspeed: Duran

    Upper Body Movement: Duran

    Combination Punching: Duran

    Jabs: Duran

    Hooks: Duran

    Uppercuts: Duran

Chin: unsure at lightweight, Duran more durable overall above that.

    Heart: Duran

    Technique: Duran

Some are quite close like Handspeed, heart and hooks, others like upperbody movement and technique are quite far apart.

Do you think if was strength that really gave him the advantage vs Margarito though? Looked more speed/movement to me...although I haven't watched the fight since that night.

Yeah, it mattered. I remember in the run up to that fight, everyone was talking about how Mosley was going to get handled and that...only one guy called Mosley as the stronger man on any forum I read at that time, and I remember telling him that if he was right then Mosley would win. But I didn't really expect to see it. Mosley bulled him.

Mosley was definitely stronger in the clinches. At the very least his clinching made Margarito ineffective. A big difference between the Margarito vs Cotto & Mosley fights.

How strong is Margarito though? He is a big welterweight, and obviously strong, but he had his troubles at 154 against Santos, although in his defense Santos outweighed him by a lot. I wouldn't say that Margarito would bother Duran at welterweight. I never thought of him as any better than a Gaspar Ortega for example.

Winky Wright outmuscled Mosley, though Wright again is a very big light middleweight.

Margarito is a poor man's sloppier Minchillo. He would probbaly do better against sluggish 154 Duran than Welter one.

I think the main difference between Mosley and Cotto, or at least the ones that fought Marg are that Cotto doesn't take more than an average shot and gives ground when he absorbs punishment.Mosley sucks it up unless he's being outclassed as well as pounded on, in which case he Tyson's it and goes through the motions.
