Macklin v Barkers on

Macklin pretty much ruined a top bill! It wasn't a bad performance but it served as an anti climax because the night had some wild ones.

 

I wouldn't say it ruined it but it definately wasn't up to the standard of the other fights.

Even the broadhurst fight got going in the last couple of rounds!!!

 

Wait a minute. So Macklin v Barker isn't on. What a ****y title. Got excited there for a minute.

I don't think this fight will happen to be honest. It would have happened by now if it was gonna go ahead. Lee v Barker definitely won't happen. I think Barker would much prefer to face Macklin myself.

Hope I am wrong though. Any of these three fighters taking each other on would be really exciting. Throw Craig McEwan into the mix aswell.

 

What really was wrong with it? He took his time and wanted to get a few rounds under his belt after a relatively long spell of inactivity. Showed his jab, boxed off the back foot and some nice uppercuts. Of course he is going to suffer a bit of a letdown getting himself up for Barker and the fight then falling through.

He didn't look great but I still feel he beats Barker.

He was getting caught way to much. The other guy was well in the fight prior to the stoppage.

 

Actually it looked to me like Macklin took a few rounds to suss him out and was just being cautious of his wide swings and as soon as he turned the heat up yer man hailed a taxi!

not the most attractive fight but Barker pulling out is as much to blame for that as Macklins performance

 

Well you obviously saw a different fight to the one we saw a ringside.

Allthough I will agree that the guy basically hailed a cab from the ring after taking them bodyshots. Don't agree that Macklin worked him out though.

Only person to blame for Macklins performance is Macklin. He is a professional fighter, pullouts happen.

Just the same as Barker was to blame for his **** performance against belchingham!!!

 

1. Barker may not be ready. If the fight cannot take place within 120 days Barkers mandatory status will be withdrawn. In which case Domenico Spada (WBC No.10) will be Barkers mandatory.
2. Macklin could vacate and fight for a World title or in an eliminator.

 

Were we watching the same fight? Macklin didn't lose a round, and showed that he doesn't have to go to war with guys like Jomar... he didn't look that sharp defensively but he got the job done easily. It was just a bit of a letdown after the previous fights and the crowd was flat due to the Enzo KO.

 

Comparing Macklins performance against Shaka to Barkers performance against Belgacham simply highlights how wide of the marker you are in your assessment - in my opinion, of course.

 

I have to agree Maclin looked better agaisnt his opponent than Barker did......although I think its fair to day Barker had the tougher fight.

He might have had a tougher fight but I dont think he had a tougher opponent
