Do you think Pacquiao can jab with Mayweather?

Pacquiao could jab with Dinosaur armed Cotto. But can he jab with Mayweather who is 2 inches taller then Cotto and 5 inch longer reach? And as we know about 3 times as fast as Cotto is?

Cotto does have the most overrated jab in boxing. He's left handed and yet he fights orthodox, and still got outjabbed by Pacquiao.

Pacquiao doesnt get enough credit. Even if he wasnt so much stronger and faster then Cotto, he still could have outboxed him.

However, this is Floyd Mayweather, the best. Floyd dominated Marquez, Oscar and Mosley with his jab. Even though some would say its under used its still one of the best in the game. If Mayweather is able to get his jab off against Pacquiao and offset his offense, will Pacquiao have a chance?

Analyzing the fight im thinking Mayweathers jab could be the decider in this fight.

Good post. I don't think Manny would try to box with Floyd, obviously he wouldn't win a jab contest. However, I think you have to consider that Manny's in and out movement is far more difficult to time than most expect. It's not like Floyd is going to have an easy time establishing his jab either. I would expect Manny's gameplan to be to fight in bursts on the inside, and stay out of range the rest of the time, and knowing how he can punch on the fly, it would be no small feat to control him soley based on the jab.

Mayweather doesn't use his jab consistently anymore. He'll look to lead with right hands to the head and body. He needs to use his jab to beat Pac and move his feet. If he fights the same fight he did against Judah or Corley he's going to get beat up. He'll also be on a year layoff next year. If he actually gets in the ring with Pac he's going to look rusty and not as sharp and he needs to be.

Mayweather threw 316 jabs vs Marquez. 100+ vs Judah. 210 jabs vs Mosley and 240 jabs vs Oscar.

Mayweather didnt use the jab against Hatton, because he could just throw a right hand down the middle and it would land every time. Still in the 9th round he landed a bunch flush jabs that slammed Hattons head back and pretty much sealed the fight.

Mayweather landed 40% of his jabs against Mosley. Cotto threw 288 jabs vs Mosley and landed at 34%

No, Floyd has superior timing to Cotto. It seems like people love Cotto's jab because of the power.

emmanuel isn't an inside fighter. He does his best work at mid-range.

A cross still takes moar commitment to throw than a jab. Plus look at how much emmanuel has to dig in with his left. Floyd can pull-counter.

A very stupid statement. Watch the JMM and Shane fights again and tell me if you see any jabs. He did go thru a period where he didn't jab but with Sr. back in the picture Floyd has gone back to the jab. The Judah and Corley fights arent really a good indicator of what he shouldn't do. He fought both fights smart and was only in danger in the beginning rounds just like any other Floyd fight. In both he used his superior conditioning and ring generalship. If he goes to the body like he did in the Judah fight it's definately a done deal for Pacquiao.

Morales kept forcing emmanuel to retreat to the ropes in the 2nd round of their 1st fight by hurting him with a right to the body. Marquez hurt him multiple times in the 2nd fight with a left hook to the body.

Good call on the body punching. Mayweather-Judah is an underrated fight.

Seriously dude, wtf is up with spelling "more" as "moar". You keep doing it and it's distracting and it makes you sound like those annoying internet nerds.

I love that fight. It showed that Floyd knows how to throw every body punch in the book to the body. Left hook, right hook, str8 right, jab, uppercuts, those punches they do in clinches, etc.

Don't worry about how I spell. Focus on answering the question in this thread about the guy in your avatar.
