Who could be considered as the second fastest heavyweight of all time?

I assume that people can agree that Ali was the fastest who comes second is there anybody close?

Patterson and Ali are one and two, not sure of the order though.

I think Ali threw straighter arm punches faster but Patterson could throw powerpunches like hooks faster. There's also Jones Jr if you count him that tops both

Yeah, we can't all agree Ali was definitively fastest. No, I think Patterson MAY have been. But, if not Ali, I do choose Patterson.

I'd say Patterson at his peak was the fastest.

I don't think that speed alone can be compared if we talk about fighters with different styles. Tyson had insane upper body speed, he was the fastest bob'n weaver, but someone who worked with him and Wlad said that Wlad has faster hands. Ali had the fatsest feet I suppose. Patterson had these super fast hooks, Louis fired fast combinations.

Yeah, imo Ali is faster as a boxer, as in not only his hands, he's just a very fast man, the way he moves etc. Patterson is rapid with those blitzes of hooks like you say, and an Ali is fast with straighta, which are probably logically harder to throw at high speeds. Not sure if i really want to speculate on that point though, it's very close.

Dempsey looks very fast at bobbing and weaving, just thought i'd put that out there before Tyson is handed that crown, i'd have to compare before i could give it to either man.

Its harder to throw power hooks fast as it uses more leverage/muscle groups, easier to throw arm punches fast, but it depends on your make up to.
