Hagler did avoid Hearns in 1983 and 1984, but eventually fought him in 85. BUt then Hagler avoided a rematch with Hearns. (Hearns' right uppercut on Hagler in the first round, was amazing)
Every fighter fought tomato cans when they're comimg up. Tyson's first 20 fights were stiffs. as far as Ayala's personal problems with women, Ayala had been sexually abused as child, which is why he "battled demons".
That's untrue. Hagler never avoided a Hearns rematch. Like to know where that rumour started. He fought Mugabi less then a year later and prior to that fight Leonard was making noise about coming out of retirement to fight Hagler. Hagler a fighter who toiled in obscurity for the majority of his career was chomping at the bit to get Leonard and the paycheque that would follow.
speaking from an honest chairborne ranger perspective, every professional fighter is pretty imposing, but every fighter is exposed at some point to be human-- it's just the illusion that every bully/champ must cultivate that makes the fight game that much more interesting. Some fighters try the man of the people approach, some try the hellish wrecking machine that must be stopped schtick. PBF does the arrogant s..t talker that must be stopped schtick... it works for him. I do miss the Duran (pre No Mas) kinda attitude, but hey when the special people do come along, appreciate them instead of being a douche bag and resenting them like all the PBF nuthuggers.
this one is for burt b from the classic: lew jenkins. possibly hardest punching lightweight ever and a fierce, dirty little ****er
