MMA fighters work on their striking with whatever gear they have associated with it, though they do have bigger MMA style open gloves for bag work and light sparring.

But if you got a Muay Thai style striker, he'll wear his head gear, shin guards, gloves, things of that sort. They wear actual headgear and sparring gloves if their primary discipline for striking is boxing and pretty much spar almost the same, except they could also throw in take down practice.

Basically, same concept as we've been tellin ol spudley. You wouldn't want to risk injury, so you wear the appropriate equipment.

16oz is standard for sparring especially elit athletes! amatuer fighters and trainers dont care though, I spar with 14oz gloves.

First, I am not a MAnny's fan. Second, that bum never said Roach has anything to do with it. He just said Manny wears 14ounces gloves. Third, the bigger the glove, the heavier it gets when it gets wet with sweat. You wear bigger gloves during sparring and then it feels a lot easier during the fight. Forth, with bigger gloves is the possibilities of getting cut are diminished. It you have a multi million dollar fight coming, you don't want to risk an accident. Last, get another hobbie. You don't know **** about boxing.

You are outrageous!!! Most pros were either 14 or 16 oz when sparring. Simple reason so they don't get knocked out or cut in sparring. Afterall its sparring, no point doing silly things like letting your partners wear small gloves for risk of injury
