We don't know that. What we do know is Sam Sexton to Wladimir Klitschko, a dominant champion is not the most logical of steps that gives the fighter the best chance.

You might be underrating Chisora's progresson, and if so, your underrating him is no reason to put his future prospects in jeoprady by saying 'throw him in while he's got the chance'. You wouldn't do that with prospects you regard more highly, so whys it a good idea for Chisora who is improving quite nicely?

I also think this notion that its no lose and he could come out with his rep enhanced is fanciful at best. To the larger boxing public Chisora is nothing but another Sosnowski, a mismatched opponent that will be forgotten once he's beaten down.

    Iggy

Exactly, keep the British title - as all fighters should do once they have it..... if he loses he's still domestic #1 and can go again.

It's alright saying wait, but all he'd do is knock over a weaker champion that had also been waiting years for Wlad to get off the pot.

I wonder how many people advised Vitali to give Lennox a wide berth just in case. Even though he lost and acted like a twat, he made his name from the fight and is still living off it years later.

If people want to be deceived by the smoke and mirrors that is Haye's HW career then that is up to them, but if Chisora pulls this off he's definitely top dog, permanently for me regardless of what Haye does/doesn't do.

If Chisora was a genuine world class prospect I don't think we would see Warren taking the fight.

I have heard allot about Chisora in sparring witch make me think he is not, and never will be world level.

Hmmmm the British public love an underdog though. Chisora could go out on his shield and become a Frank Bruno type character. This will get allot of publicity. Nightmare for Haye.

Well he's at and seemigly higher than Brit level, and there isn't a whole lot on Euro level, so he can't be that far off world level...

However, there are far better ways of doing it then taking this reckless stab in the dark. Frank Warren has enough influence to get decent tests over to the UK for Chisora.

Wlad-Chisora is Katsidis-Mitchell all over again, except for a bunch of football fans who don't know the difference between a 'challenger' and a 'champion'. It's a massive risk with little reward should everything go tits-up for Chisora and Warren. However, Chisora isn't exactly a household name at the moment and I think Warren could rebuild his career pretty easily should he be dominated and not suffer any serious physical or psychological boxing-related damage after a fight with Wlad.

That said, I honestly don't see what Chisora will ever do at world level as long as the Klits and Haye are around. I say take the fight, make a shitload of money, test yourself and see where you end up. It's got to be better than plodding along fighting against domestic standard opposition for ages. Like I said before, the HW division is ****-poor once you get past the titleholders, so why not just take a fight right now that, IMO, Chisora will lose no matter what stage his career is at?:think

theres allot of fighters at Euro Level he could face. I wouldn't pick him to beat Dimitrenko.

There just as much chance of Chisora losing to Fury or Dimitrenko for the European so might as well cash in now.

    I thought it fit

I'm with Beeston on this, memorable nights of boxing are made by taking risks like this.

The only thing that could be made a bit better is if Chisora's name was built a bit more, like by beating Fury on the December card. Still hopefully it'll get promoted well.

I don't think the gap in class is as big as Wlad vs Chisora

I can see both sides of the "should he, shouldn't he". Either way Chisora should def, be applauded for accepting the fight.

I guess time will tell over its long term effect on his career.....he'll probably be able to come again if he loses. Wlad isn't exactly known for wrecking fighters Tommy Hearns style.

To say that is to not understand the psychology of a fighter like Chisora. Derek is a confidence fighter, once he realises he can't compete at that top level it will do some serious damage to his growth. Coming back down to fight British and Commonwealth opponents will do nothing for him, he may go on to have a yoyo career from this fight on. You can't do that to a kid who still hasn't reached his potential.

The kid is "green" so he needs to be handled as such. Matching him against an autobot like Wlad would be the kiss of death. Wlad is a heavy hitter who discourages you. Derek would probabily get hit with more big shots then Chambers, Chageav et al. because of his youthful exuberance and going all out for it. Trust me Wlad would catch him so often with the jab and big right hands, where that heart would viciously get ripped out...and 25 or not, it's career defining.
