Hopkins MW resume vs Sturms MW resume. Whos is really better & who would win?

I think the style is more important than the qualities you believe are in Sturm. Hopkins has a problem with unorthodoxy just like Floyd does, and NO problems with textbook fighters (tito, Oscar at times, even the southpaw Tarver, Winky) who work everything off the jab. Sturm is COMPLETELY textbook in style, working everything off his excellent jab. Taylor was not textbook: he used his physical speed and strength and work rate and awkwardness to swarm Hopkins. Taylor was physical, as was Jones to an even greater degree - completely unorthodox in punching and his movement, a unique fighter that may have been stylistically presaged by the last rounds of Leonard-Duran II. Everybody knows Calzaghe is anything but textbook, while his punches aren't really stinging they are completely effective from all kinds of angles and with a rapid fire oddity and broken rhythm rarely found above one forty seven.

Sturm is not the physical force Taylor or Jones were, nor is he the awkwardly unique fighter Calzaghe was. I see nothing to indicate the Hopkins of last year would not simply walk through him, though Hopkins is getting up there now.

And I honestly believe calling Sturm a completely two handed fighter is misleading, as his jab is far and away the most effective weapon in his arsenal.

 

:think I dont think so. Sturm has always struck me as fairly mechanical. Highly competent but I think Hopkins is way to tricky for him.

 

Their first fight was a no contest, hence the rematch. Their 3rd fight, Allen was Hopkins mandatory so he didn't have a choice as he clearly wanted to set a record for middleweight defences.

Edit: You have to be a dense motha****a to honestly that Sturm would beat Hopkins with Fast hands only...What will Sturm do when Hopkins gets his timing down...What will Sturm do then..Hopkins has showed in the past that he takes away fighters strenghts.
