:lol::lol: Yeah, it's a good picture, I've never seen it before. Soon as Addie sees it, I'll let you have it to yourself, I promise. ...Friends? :D

Almost certainly, RedRooster agrees. But, seriously, yeah, he is like a politician. I always prefer the Hagler types, personality-wise. Leonard is an "Everyone like me!" and Hagler is a "This is my hat. It says "WAR"."

I was just worried people will start confusing me with you and expecting me to start cracking witticisms about SNV or something...

Well, would you be up to it if they did? I may not always be around...Someone may have to take up the cause. ...

iv always tried to appreciate the boxers, the whitakers, mayweathers etc...but im not a boxer, so although i can appreciate their art, i much prefer the fighters, the fraziers, holyfields, benns etc....

iv opnly ever trained boxing for fitness and could never emulate the feats of the slippery, lighning fast artisans, whereas anyone can wish to emulate the heart, resolve and will power of boxings true gladiators, i find them inspirational.....

thats not too say the real boxers dont have that characteristic, its just we rarely got to see a classsy boxer displaying huge reserves of heart as their skills usually negated the need for toe to toe slugging...

I see what you mean. I'm far more inclined to warm to the flawed character types like an Ali or even a Duran. Far more layers and depth to their character.

I appreciate him as a fighter but I think he was a bad person. I tried HARD to like him & his fights but they come off as unwatchable to me. He is one of the greatest MW's but I just can't stand seeing him fight.

Right I can agree on that. In interviews you can see he thinks before he talks while he does a puzzled look. He had the talent and people loved him but I just see him as a *****. I'm a fan & love his fights(most of them) but he was a *****.

People mention Ali and though I'm a fan of his, he was a ***** too. I admit I don't enjoy all of his fights especially when he would act as though he was bored in the later 70's. LOVE watching his prime & Ali-Frazier 1 and 3 but dislike some of his fights which I admit could be boring. I'm a Young fan but I find that fight he had with Ali kind of boring too honestly.

He is clearly over Holmes and there is absolutely no room for debate:p Regarding Frazier though i know exactly what you're saying. He's like a no nonsense character that can shut Ali's mouth and bring him back down to earth, in the ring

techks, I was going to post something in response to you, chiding you for being against a fighter merely based on an irrevelent reason i.e. their personality or their out of the ring persona...I was going to ask you if you like Mike Tyson, for instance..and if you answered "yes", then spring the trap on you as to why you would judge Monzon's evil reputation against him when determining his worth as a fighter....but then......whaddaya know..I feel the same way about Floyd Mayweather as you do about Monzon...I CANNOT so much as even watch a seconds worth of the "Prettyboy" *****..not even for a second, because of my intense abhorrance and venom for him as a "personality"..Mayweather embodies every negative, despicable attribute that a single fighter can possibly have to me..and I can't bring myself to caring a damned bit about any of his fights...I only hope that Pacqiauo (a favorite fighter of mine) DESTROYS him.. so instead of taking you to task about your judgement of one of my personal, all time favorites, I must say instead that I understand you 100%.

    SRR
    Ali
    SRL
    DLH
    Jones Jr
    Mayweather

I bet you can see the pattern. I don´t like golden boys. I can apprpeciate what they do in the ring, and I very much do so, but I can´t stand them - that all of them but DLH are/were pricks doesn´t help much either.

I used to feel the same way about Roy Jones...based on the fact that he fought so many subpar fighters and that he was exposed when he finally had to take a real shot to the jaw...he lacked the whiskers to have beaten any of the true elites..but he was BEAUTIFUL in exposing James Toney..and that fight alone of Jones I love to watch....and just for the record, though it dosen't influence my rating of him as a fighter, just an aside..he wasn't a racist ***** like Mayweather or Hopkins.

I don't like Mayweather as a person he's a ***** from what I see of him but am a fan of the fighter. The same goes for Robinson, Ali, SRL, and possibly many others. I see where you're coming from completely but I try to see fighters as just fighters so I can attempt to ignore what they do outside of the ring but some things they do are unforgivable.

Lol, Hopkins is an opportunist. I'm a fan of his but he only said what he said to get under Calzaghe's skin. If he truly hated white people, he wouldn't have Roach in his corner. He too is a ***** but I respect how far he's come. He did terrible things like Tyson but is a great fighter and I can't ignore that. I can try to forgive Hopkins because one thing, do you ever hear about him in scandals? He's so disciplined and that's why I like what I see of him as a person yet dislike many things he says. With Mayweather they make him out to be so disciplined on 24/7's but he can't control his troubles worth spit. Good in the gym, out of it he has little control.

Well, whether it be today, or at a time in the past, for a fighter to use racism in promoting a fight is a despicable thing, that's why I consider Hopkins to be such a lowlife in that case...though I appreciate his style and his smarts..I remember having some contempt for Kelly Pavlik recently when he he reused to give Hopkins his due for being a "crafty fighter" after he was basically totally owned ny Hopkins. Whether he believed what nonsense he was spouting or not, Hopkins, with his "white boy" **** just discredited him as a sportsman to me..compared to all the great fighters of the past and present who refuse to stoop to that sort of thing...Mayweather is another cretin, in my opinion, for the same reason...but I at least acknowledge him to being a great fighter.
As for Monzon, really his out of the ring personality is almost ridiculously irrelevant to his worth in the ring...hell, in the ring, he HAD NO PERSONALITY...which is part of the reason why many fans have never been interested in him...and consider him to be a dull fighter. regardless of how great he actually was. He had no snarling, animalistic fire and emotion that a Roberto Duran, for example , had.

Lol, you're a great poster red cobra and I agree with what you said especially about Monzon. Personally, I understand that some fighters like to get in people's heads but using racism is inexcusable but you have to admit the only time Hopkins causes problems is before fights to get the mental edge. I hated that comment he said & when he threw the PR flag on the ground but I respect him as a person for getting through what he did and still not going to jail despite the high possibility he had for going again. Don't get me wrong sometimes I hate his methods but....sometimes they're effective. I agree that racism should never be used and in no way am I saying his comment should've been said it was wrong. It might have lit a match under Joe causing Hopkins to use his craftiness to make him look bad but it was pointless to say what he did. Is he a ****? Possibly so but you can't say he's not an inspiration. The guy has discipline. Who gets up and runs every single morning? Crazy. I don't like how he shows himself as a character though but the guy will do anything to win in and out of the ring.
