Question about the Manny Pacquiao vs Juan Manuel Marquez I, scoring controversy

Not to start a huge argument, but I think it's pretty easy to score Marquez winning those 8 rounds with the 10-6.

but the second....i thought jmm won...


in anyway it was a very very good fight..

If this is true, its a fkn disgrace.

In other words once you have been decked twice in a round you can keep going down to avoid punishment knowing that you cant lose anymore points ?

From the attackers point of view... if you knock a man down twice & your not 100% sure you can KO him cleanly then you may as well back off & cruise the rest of the round because any further damage or knockdowns aint gonna score anymore points.

These `rules` should be scrapped asap :-(

 

Definately. It would have been regarded as a legit stoppage for sure. Although Marquez did show enough signs of recover between the knockdowns, due to him throwing and landing punches back. They were all flash knockdowns, in which he recuperated pretty quick. Cortez was probably aware of this.

After the 1st round Pac didn't win another round watch the fight clearly.Even though Pac scored three KD's Marquez still out box him that round and the whole fight.

 

No, you inventged that. The reason is, you don't see fights stopped early because the "Guy is in too deep a hole to win"...

 

I completley disagree. JMM was not hurt enough after ther third KD to even warrent a stoppage. I think a stoppage at that point would have been a travesty to Marquez.

If the ref stopped the fight at 3rd then I guess we won't be seeing the JMM that we're seeing right now, IMHO. If the ref stopped it, there won't be a rematch and JMM wouldn't have a chance to show his talent. JMM's popularity is 'somewhat' based on those two close fights with Pac.

If the ref DID stop the fight, I can only imagine what the idiots of the board would have said about JMM. He'd be getting the "Khan" treatment is my guess...
