That's what most of us are... I wasn't hardcore into boxing until like 02. I knew stuff and occasionally watched fights but was into other **** too much to follow. I actually started off sort of idolizing Mayweather. Then I went back and checked out a ton of fights... then I bought "when we were kings" and have been a hardcore ali fan ever since... granted it's only been like 8 years, I own every thing I can find on Ali.
Modern boxing is my best subject...but I know a fair bit about when the Fabulous Four were about because my dad used to drill it into me when I was younger. He had tonnes of boxing books...but anything before Duran, Hagler, Hearns and Leonard...and anything inbetween that point and the late 80's/early 90's is a little sketchy.
I used to read and dig out hiundreds of articles from the past and last twenty years but that was ywears ago i learnt so muchy but when you know to much you always forget some so unlkess the topic is brought to my attention i wont talk about it.:hey What have you been drinking
There was a thread about the 35th anniversary of the Thriller in Manila about today...I posted the documentary in it because the thread was ignored.
I tend to know a fair amount about certain fighters and not a whole lot about others but i wouldnt say id stick to any one era.For instance ive seen a lot of De La Hoya or Jack Dempseys fights but not a lot of julio cesar chavez's
Oh there was one here in GF too? http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=257674 The thread in Classic didn't fare well either. Before my bump an hour ago it had three posts in twelve hours.
Yeah he posted the same one in the general...it made 2 pages, but only because some idiot thought today's Heavyweights were better or some shite.
OMG! Link? Someone thought there was a boxer active today that could hang with Frazier or Ali? :rofl edit: that was lazy of me to ask, n/m (you even said it's the same thread starter). http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=257673
Yes Wlad would at least be a viable contender not saying he would beat them as that is for another thread. Ali would starch that mofo but he would give frazier a good shot until his heart succumbs to his intensity
My mistake, he was criticizing the bout...but nonetheless, he was complaining about the standard of the bout. http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=257673
I find myself defending WK quite a bit on here and am probably seen by some as a borderline apologist, but Frazier and Ali are a clear cut above (Frazier no less so than Ali, IMO).
