I don't root for a guy just because he is the same skin color as me. Maybe if the was the 60s, I would, but what's the point of rooting for a guy just because he is black in a sport where black men dominate? It would be like your favorite NBA player being your favorite because he is black! Rooting for someone based on those reasons only comes when the guy is something of a rarity, e.g., voting for Barack Obama. Of COURSE most blacks would vote for the guy! What did the whites who complain about it expect?
