And I find it curious you pick Feroz to stop a prime Mayorga in the mid rounds, when he didnt stop ANY top fighter other then campas before the 7th round, unless you want to count Ross Thompson, and then thats two. Even Marquez, while getting his ass beat, made it to the 11th. But Vargas is going to finish a prime Mayorga earlier?

    Not happening.

Mayorga gives an opponent far more chances to knock him out with his horrible defense. There was a big difference between Vargas in his short prime and the Vargas Mayorga fought. He would have needed that extra spring in his step to catch but I believe he would.

Vargas by clinical stopage around the 10th. Vargas before Trinidad was pretty special. Still dont quite know how Mayorga beat Forrest.

by taking forrests best shots like they were nothing. by hitting forrest harder than anyone previously had done. by constantly offsetting forrests rythm. by out punching him and outfighting him.

to summarise, by being the better boxer.

mayorga didn't do none of that. he's a fuking terrible boxer man. mayorga's only decent attributes were his footspeed, chin, and power.

    vargas by beatdown

I didn't make a pick, but pointed out that if things went as IB speculated...

"...both are going to get hit quite a lot with their styles. Somebody's getting put away inside schedule."

then Mayorga was better equipped to deal with Vargas' power than vice versa.

If they get into a brawl, Mayorga has the clear edge in chin.

He beat Spinks by a clear margin. Very poor officiating cost him the decision there.

(unwarranted point deductions and KDs that weren't counted.)

he owned forrest, twice. first by knocking him out. second by offsetting his rythm and out fighting him.

it takes something special to clearly beat forrest twice.

no. forrest wasn't 100% in either fight. mayorga didn't offset nothing, who do you think he is pacquiao? what he had over forrest was footspeed. forrest was never 100% focused in those fights and habitually stepped straight back from exchanges, that's what mayorga exploited.

the likes of oba carr would have clowned mayorga

absolute bull****. for the first fight forrest was a huge favourite and considered one of the best p4p boxers in the world. mayorga kayoed his ass. in the second he clearly took forrest out of his rythm.

oba carr would have clowned mayorga, even though lewis, forrest and spinks couldnt manage it?

If I remember rightly Mayorga came out with his usual trash talk, saying something about Forrests wife. Forrest fought angry going for the KO and got ko'd. The second fight was very close.

I think Mayorga gets underrated to an extent though, Vargas's size probably gives him the edge, although a fair bit of this size was bodyfat in comparison to lean mean Mayorga
