America needs a Shift in mentality to dominate the heavyweight scene once again

I guess you have reason to degrade american football, but all i'm saying is three years of contact rugby may or may not compare to three years of american footbal at any level beyond high school for certain positions. maybe not a punter, but if you were a quarterback, receiver or back, you'd have to worry about getting ****ed up badly on a regular basis

Good luck getting promising athletes to commit to boxing, when there is far less risk, far higher likely reward in any other sport.

How many heavyweights really get paid well in boxing, vs. how many NFL or NBA players really get paid in their respective sports.. Only way someone is going to box is if they really aren't that athletic, or are just into combat.

 

yank football is tough. i'll give it that. like golf i laughed at it until i tried it. that said, i'll take 8 minutes (8 minutes being what that average "football" player actually plays in a game) of american football over a rugby game anyday. yank football is not nearly as tough as many pretend nor as ***** as some do. it's a sport, like tennis or baseball nothing more. rugby is for drunken aussies and irishman. it's ****ing brutal. my best friend plays it and had his ear tore off. i love boxing and i'd rather do that than be a rugger.

btw: my dad played yank football until his mid-20s, until he required metal knees. i grew up in a university of michigan house (go WOLVERINES)

And much bigger competition on top of that. In the past, whole Soviet block didn't compete at professional boxing. Now if you take a look at boxrec top10 you will get there Wlad, Vitali, Adamek, Chagaev, Povetkin and Valuev. 6 of 10.
