Round 9

Jones is uncharacteristically busy, with combos clustered around his jab. A very slow hook on the inside misses and nearly gets Jones countered wide open. Brudov is cautious about exchanging with the heavier handed Jones. Brudov puts up a high guard and then twists it back out to flypaper, effectively catching most of Jones' shots now. Brudov still isn't throwing much back. He does land a nice 1-2 inside. Jones flings a stiff jab in Brudov's face while slipping a punch. Hook-2 combos starts to land for Jones and back Brudov up. Brudov lands a hook to the body and Jones hammers him with that same combo a few more times. Brudov is getting rattled.

Round 10

Brudov swats with his hook, setting the tempo. A couple of hooks brush the face of Jones but they aren't very powerful as Brudov is throwing them off his toes. Jones starts lining up his 1-2 and solitary jab and connecting at a customarily high rate. They clinch when their jabs cancel each other out. Brudov lands some counter right hands behind a double jab but pays a price, getting his head snapped back by long hard shots from Jones that have the crowd smelling blood. Jones stings Brudov with jabs from outside. Combos from Jones seal the round.

Round 11

Brudov paws with his jab and immediately covers up - a sign that Jones is getting to him with his power. Jones is only slapping himself, not showing much fire this round. They pause to have a doctor inspect Brudov's face. He is cleared to continue and immediately grabbed in a rough clinch with Jones' bicep grinding into his face. Jones jabs him in the nose and then misses a sloppy left cross. Jones keeps jabbing and eventually gets it right with a perfectly straight cross when Brudov stops moving his feet for a moment at the end of a jab. The referee stops it inexplicably at a strange moment.

It was shortly after a good shot landed but Brudov was not taking an undue amount of punishment. It must have been the cuts that influenced the official to take matters in his own hands despite the opinion of the ringside physician.
