mmm i do hope you're wrong.do you think fraudley would demmand respect from the british media, ali style.
It would make him really popular in my opinion. It would turn his story from spoilt-brat not doing what he said he would do to a superb underdog story. Then we'd have to bear witness to the ignominy of Wladimir staving his face in for 9 rounds.
Me too. Everyone thinks he's a joke, but he still takes himself seriously. It's definitely sad. In any other sport, you'd back Haye by a landslide, and that's probably the sensible bet anyway...but in boxing, I just don't know. It would be funny as **** (for about ten minutees) if Fraudley flattened him. And stranger things have definitely happened in this sport. Here are some alarming statistics. Harrison has an 8" reach advantage Harrison is 3 inches taller Harrison is a southpaw Harrison is arguably the hardest puncher that Haye has ever met
the southpaw bit is worrying in itself and that horrible flicking jab that he has.ingemar johansson had the same annoying trait but from an orthodox stance.look what happened to floyd after he ignored it !!
I know it sounds daft but i'm kinda intrigued how Harrison would do against either of the K brothers, especially Vitali. big southpaw with power vs VK could be quite interesting.
I used to be a big fan of Haye's. I'm a bit tired of him now but I certainly don't dislike him. I just don't get caught in this current hype surrounding him. I judge him as a fighter and keep him in perspective. Others seem to get carried away in some fantasy of his perceived potential without acknowledging the facts. Personally, I thought Valuev was completely discredited as any sort of viable champion long before Haye fought him. Yet somehow that victory and a beating of an old Ruiz (who no one ever much rated anyway) have somehow been taken as some sort of fulfillment of Haye's self-proclaimed saviour role in the heavyweight divsion, or at least an acceptable campaign and reign as the new WBA champion. He's more of a disappointment from where I'm sitting. Most of the men Bruno beat WERE considered feeble opponents. Mormeck would fit in nicely with the likes of Lucien Rodriguez, Phil Brown, Reggie Gross, Jesse Ferguson, or washed-up versions of Truth Williams and Joe Bugner. If Mormeck was a viable heavyweight we would have seen him do something as such.
Fair enough Unforgiven, I do think Haye has shown himself to be a top3 HW but thats more down to the weak state of the division. He certainly has plenty of weaknesses but strengths that may offset them. I do still maintain Mormeck was a top draw win, obviously at Cruser but still We certainly need Haye-Wladdy and I wouldn't pick Haye but if he wins he deserves all the plaudets regardless of age
Have any of you lads actually seen Big Aud fight? If you can call it fighting that is. And I wanted to believe in Audley but from an early stage it was obvious plenty was missing
The very fact that some of you here are acknowledging that Audley Harrison of all people has a live chance of causing an upset kind of belies a deep sense of suspicion that Haye lacks all the traits needed to be considered a classy fighter at elite level. More precisely, y'all think that Haye is chinny as ****. And his defence is nothing to write home about. I agree that Haye has those weaknesses, but won't get caught up in this Harrison the live underdog crap. Yes, at heavyweight anything can happen. That's a shitty excuse to put on shitty fights with undeserving challengers though.
I dont think Audley has a hope in hell, but I suppose the thinking is 'Haye's chin hasn't been proven', 'maybe Audley can finally fulfill his potential', 'Audley is so big and on paper he should be a good fighter' The thing is Audley isn't even a puncher, can't fight, figthts scared. I suggest anyone thinking Audley has a shot watches Williams-Audley 1, Audley-Sprott 1, and them remember Audley is taking a big step up in class
I agree. It's a horrible fight and Harrison has proven many times that he just hasn't got the makings of a decent pro fighter. It's a disgraceful match-up. More money in Harrison's pocket while other better fighters get passed up and won't ever get a chance. Harrison has already made millions through his Olympic glory and promises of achieving things at pro level. It's sickening, he's not even enjoyable to watch, he just hangs around like a bad smell. Being rewarded for being a celebrity rather than his work as a professional boxer. I certainly don't feel sorry for Harrison and the way he is ridiculed. He's been given cheques and chances other far better, .more entertaining fighters will never get. And simply because TV and promoters know that the general public recognise the name 'Audley Harrison'. He's not even popular, he's just known (because he fought on BBC in the olympics and his first ten fights or so). I don't think he can beat David Haye. And I was one of the few saying that back in 2003 and 2004 (no one of the Briit forum agree with me back then. Interesting how things change !) I will laugh my head of if Harrison wins though. Not that I'll be watching it.
