He's not the best but Sugar Ishe Smith comes to mind, and also plenty of Europeans/Clottey who use that shell.

Possibly young Klitschko since he styles allows him to avoid getting hit while he's delivering his own offense.

Can't put Clottey because he doesn't mix in enough offense to actually have an "effective" defense. He just shells for long periods of times and loses his big fights routinely.

Wlad was the first name that came to mind - these days his opponents hardly ever lay a glove on him. Horrible to watch but very, very effective.

Andre Ward, Jesse Vargas, and to some extent Joshua Clottey and Sergio Martinez. Defensive fighters are a rare breed.

    In no particular order...

    Wladimir Klitschko
    Arthur Abraham
    Andre Dirrell
    Ryan Rhodes
Joan Guzman, maybe, though he's started to fade
Same for Toney, who I don't think is particularly good defensively anymore
    Sergio Martinez
    Omar Narvaez

Edit: just saw someone said Pirog, he's a good one as well.

    Ola Afolabi is another one.

Fernando Guerrero. I should probably change it soon though. I always forget it's there since I hide the avatars.
