Okay, I would like to see one of you do 2 press ups. but, :D from the chest on the floor position. While doing it you can only raise an inch every 10 secs, when at the top of the push come down 1inch every 10 secs. Thats Bodyweight exercise :yep. Im waiting :rofl.

The thing is, as I've said before, most of you don't know **** all about weight training.

If you use weights properly you can only get better at your sport. You cannot get worse, and if you're doing it right you wont even get bigger.

oh and BTW Mayweather, the klitschkos, Haye, Hatton and probably also Pacquio use weights, and most other boxers do too.

bodyweight training is good when you box. i tried saying this once and got shot down.
most bodyweight exercises can be 'upgraded' to become extremely difficult. i believe they must also improve the general strength of the body as a whole as most trgeted exercises require other parts of the body to work as well, such as keeping your abs tight in push-ups, your back works with pull-ups and chin-ups, etc.

The whole idea of weight training (bars/dumbbells) being superior to bodyweight only training is ridiculous.

    explain yourself.

For building strength weights ARE superior.
For building explosiveness weights ARE superior. (think olympic lifting)
For building muscle there is less of a difference but the general concensus is that weights are superior.

The only thing you may have an advantage using bodyweight with is endurance training. Possibly.

I take it no one has heard of planche push ups and one arm pullups?

Bodyweight is extremely beneficial and compliments weight training.

Having said that, your imagination is the only limit to your bodyweight training.

As for explosiveness...well, I don't think dancers and most gymnasts lift weights for their explosiveness.

Yep planche pushups are ****ing hardcore. Tried training to do them a couple of years ago and just ended up injuring myself. I got to the point where I could get into the tuck position and hold it for about 10 seconds. The amount of pressure on the shoulders and forearms is immense much harder than anything else I have tried.

One arm pull ups are also pretty hard I can do about 3 reps but don't really train to do them just try them now and again.

Yup and traps as well, feel the stress. It took me 3 months to do them but....I'm something of a psycho:lol:

You can do it as well. You just have to be willing to suffer and fall many many times as i have on my face and bruising my lower spine once from going with too much force with the lower part of my body.

I think I will give them another go it's something I have wanted to be able to do for years. It's worth falling on my face a few hundred times to get there.

If weights are better, why is it all the major Football clubs dont use them now.
