    Myong showered early.

    Sergey looked good.

Saki looked like he was on a crazy man rampage.

Ghita put the hurt on Zimmerman. He was out cold.

Aerts and Tex duked it out and thats never boring.

Overeem looks even bigger and unstoppable.

I'm exciting about the final 8. I wish Hari and Arlovski were in it though.

I wouldnt say Overeem looked any bigger personally, looked much the same size as in SF vs Rogers. Personally I think he got too big last year for the WGP at 265lbs or whatever it was and it slowed him down alot.

That boxing was damn impressive though, I always had that down as a bit of a weakeness but those counters were sweet with a ton of power behind them, I don't think many guys would have survived the first one let alone the second.

Sergei wasnt up agenst great opposition but he looked in the best shape I'v seen him since the long break after beating Overeem, certainly make me alot of excited to see him in SF next year.

Was very pleasently supprized by the show as a whole, no Hari or Remy but alot of the younger talent really upped there game. Saki and Ghita really did look like they could challange this year, Mo somehow looked better fighting on one days notice than he has in years and Maeda looks like the first legit Japanese HW in ages, small but with a hell of a chin.

    Great event.

I only wish JLB hadn't quit like that. Dude has gone through wars in his career (his four fights with Mark Hunt and his grudge match against Cyrille Abidi were some of my favs) but to see him walk away (after the judges practically gifted him that extra round) made me cringe. I was really hoping to see him win this year's GP so that he could retire after finally winning at least one crown.

At the same time, I was also bummed that Hari couldn't compete (legal issues, right?). I'd kill to see Hari vs Overeem III.

Good to see Ben Edwards at least have a go nothing to be ashamed of, he posts in the Aussie section from time to time and probably reads here, he made his way into the GP by knocking out 3 guys in the first 2 mins of the 1st rounds of a tournament.

I don't think its a knock on Edwards that it ended early, thats the way both men fight and Ben showed a hell of a chin and a ton of heart to get up from those two knockdowns.

Edwards showed alot of heart in getting up from 2 fight finishing blows.

Have they changed the clinch rule? Now you can only clinch with one hand and knee? or has it always been like that? I don't remember them not being able to clinch with both hands in the past. A number of the fighters looked messed up with the rule.

I really liked the event. Ghita vs Zimmerman was fantastic, what a precision of Ghita. All of his punches landed flush on Zimmer. He also timed his heavy kicks very well, he did his homework. Despite the fact that Zimmer has more athletic ability and explosive power, he finished him off. Saki was great as always.
I wasn't impressed with Aerts, despite that he won. Lebanner vs Kyotoro was a great fight, but the ending really sucked. Kicks to the arms don't count and agression does, so you could give the first to Lebanner, the second where he started connecting heavily as well, but he did lose the third obviously. However a fighter should never walk out like there. Never ever, even if the judges screw up badly. Hesdy did a good job, but he could have done better if he would have sticked to peppering Schilt his left leg. He could have won if it were 5 rounds.

One of the best K-1 GP's in recent memory. All the up and comers up'ed their game. Despite Sergei's comp i was very impressed with his win. Likewise Gokhan and Ghita were very impressive with their KO's.
I think the biggest disappointment of the night was JLB. All he has left is his imposing physique and mean look. Other than that he fights on fumes. I couldnt believe he just walked out of the ring like that when the fight was a draw. ***** move by JLB.
And Overeem was actually smaller weighing in at a svelte 242lbs. I never expected his weight to be that low. He looked and punched like a world class striker. Certainly one of the best if not the best in MMA.

Yup. It was on the TV screen i can even do a dump of it if you want. Im sure for his fight with Rogers he was around 254. But despite weighing less he looked even beefier?!?! Overeem's a genetic freak.

Then again JLB looked like he's just been shipped in from some penal colony on Mars. Dude doesnt even look human. He's ****ing huge! 264lbs!?!?! WTF!!

I was very impressed with overeems performence even though it was a short fight.

his calmness under all those punches from ben edwards, you can tell edwards plan was to overwhelm overeem early, but overeem stayed collected and caught edwards with some very short and powerful punches.

    ghita was also impressive.

Boom. Alistair didnt flinch for a minute. Thats experience right there. This is a guy that loves to fight has been fighting for a long time and has a wealth of experience who is simply continuing to improve in leaps and bounds at an elite level in the K1 and SF. Overeem is legit. Anyone that trys to say otherwise is delusional.

I was one of those that saw alistair having no chance of winning the gp.

    I was wrong.

after that performance I see that overeem has a good chance to take the gp this year, behind semmy schilt IMO.

now lets see sergei kharitonov vs overeem -the k1 version of their rubber match!
