Napoles-Lopez II I included because it demonstrated the lethal, one punch capacity of Napoles...his viperish quality...yes, there were overall better displays in other fights of his overall abilities, but I wanted to include this one because it showed how Napoles could end a bout with sudden, freakish power as well..I also left out an underrated, never-referred to win of Mantequila's...the rematch in '72 with Adolph Pruitt...Pruitt was as deserving a contender as could possibly be...and he had a score to settle with Napoles as well. Napoles totally overwhelmed Prruitt over 3 rounds with a relentless, accurate, debilitating buzzsaw onslaught of punches...the fight was stopped in the 3rd, with a bewildered, butchered up Pruitt totally helpless.

Bygraves was the bull to Willies matador, but in the Peralta rematch...Willie had previously lost a nontitle decision to Peralta..in the rematch, with the title on the line...Pastrano's 1st defense, he won this one in a manner that was somewhat uncharactaristic, in that he was more aggressive and hit harder than usual..his shots carved up Peralta a bit...he opened a bad cut over the Argie's eye that led to a stoppage...but it was Pastrano's relative aggression, and sharpness that made this a good performance for him.
lol, I'd have to say: 1. George Foreman 2. Ron Lyle II 3. Muhammad Ali It's kinda hard wth Young to have a list because he had such short list of major wins...I included his "loss" to Ali here..Young was a specialized taste to be sure..he sure did upset Foreman, and made Ron Lyle look silly in 2 fights...beat Ali and Norton only to get screwed, and after Norton, went downhill fast..not exactly an extended time in the limelight..not much of a body of work either to be honest..but he was what he was...a defensive wizard whose style wasn't appreciated by the people who counted the most...the officials of his fights with Norton and Ali... but just consider that the same Foreman that he beat ruled as heavyweight champion both before and after his fights with Young...makes Foreman look good..and it makes Young look real good too, IMO.
Good point. And that's boxing too. Because of it's nature, a big portion of fighters will put on a few great performances, and then slowly fade away to make room for the next generation.
