Nobody likes Napoles over Griffith? I know there are questions about Griffith's form (weight drained), but Napoles just dominated him. I would be hard pressed to give Griffith 4 rounds, which is what he got from the judges.

Well James didn't get the decision that night but he was a better fighter for me and I had him winning the fight. It was impressive that past prime middleweight champion schools young and strong heavyweight like Peter was.

    Sal Sanchez vs:

    Danny Lopez I
Danny Lopez II (Lopez was more prepared for what he was facing but Sanchez still dominated him in a phone booth sized ring)
    Wilfredo Gomez

i hear that. he took some shots from peter that wouldve ko'ed most natural heavies too.

I felt that he was in much better shape in the holyfield fight, probably cause he just came up from cruiser. he was able to physically do whatever he wanted to holyfield. against peter, even though i felt he won, i still feel that because he looked out of shape, it made some of the rounds closer than they shouldve been. plus holyfield is better than peter. but i kniow what you mean, as round as he was in that fight, he still looked really good.

I'm interested in what people think Benitez' top 3 performances were. I've only seen his fights with hearns, ray leonard, duran, palomino, curry, cervantes and hope.

It's funny with Benitez. All of these fights were astonishing for one reason or another. I like his performance against Cervantes a lot.

Yeah, I'd say Cervantes has to be in the top 3. Benitez was 17 and looked like the Fresh Prince. To do that to a grown man, great fighter (IMO) is amazing.
I think the Duran fight should be top 3 also.

I was going to name Napoles-Griffith but I get tired of hearing the same old thing about Griffith being too drained to make the 147 limit that it hampered his performance. I don't care that it did really, it was a great, neat, clever performance ny Napoles, revealing another facet of his mant skills...the ability to outslick and outpoint a guy rather than by lacerating, battering or knocking them cold...all of which he was capable of. For instance, he twice reduced poor Curtis Cokes to dog meat..13 rounds and 10 rounds, consecutively...sliced up and decimated Adolph Pruitt, Ko'ed Ernie Lopez with one shot, and just generally destroyed Pete Toro. Napoles could get the job done in a variety of ways...and you're so right about his fight with Griffith...that was a neat outboxing job against an outstanding old pro in Griffith.
