One of the more chilling performances of the last 10 years in my opinion.

Agreed. I feel Hopkins-Tarver doesn't get the credit it should either. Anyways, many great performances have happened in the last 10 years too.

I knew I was gonna get caught on that one, lol..good work Stevie:good...I guess they kinda equal out..I think Joe's overall form was best vs Baer, but his destructive fury was best vs the other Max...whew...put those two vwersions of Joe together and he's the ultimate heavyweight..which I do believe anyway.

I haven't scrolled through the whole thread, so I don't know if its already been mentioned, but Ray Leonard's win over Marvin Hagler has to be one of the first that comes to my mind. I remember back in 1987, that fight was labeled as one of the very best single victories of all time... Now, 23 years later on some internet forum, you have guys going through hell and high water to prove that it wasn't.

I was going to mention this myself.

The idea that Hagler was in worse shape than Leonard come fight night because he had been more active is among the most stupid things I have ever heard uttered on the Classic Forum.

I agree with most of the fights you guys listed, and I'll add one that some may scoff at, but it's one that has been stuck in my craw for several years.

I tuned in to the Pavlik/McKart fight expecting to see Bronco take this skinny kid out behind the wood shed, and teach him what it means to be a professional boxer! In ring years Kelly was just a baby, and McKart was dead serious about his come back. They spent 90% of the fight boxing at close to mid range. Pavlik beat McKart at his own game, handed him his first KO loss, and looked damn good doing it.

People repeatedly claim McKart was just a washed up, shot to ****, light middleweight. It irritates hell out me that 90% of the people who make those claims did not even see the fight, nor did they see McKart's post-pavlik outings against Ornales and Marquez. McKart wasn't shot, and that would have been a damn good win for any 23 year old prospect.

As long as we agree that Pavlik isn't very good, Boo.

Ok i get you. Do you think he's one of the best fighters ever? Just asking in the vein of our recent conversations on who are the highest level operators of all time, rather than those with the best resumes. I've enjoyed that topic.

Yes, I believe Roy Jones is one of the best fighters of all time.

I'd favor him to beat anybody at Super Middleweight, but I think he gets hurt at 175lbs against the likes of Foster, Spinks, and Charles.

I hate the logic some display(not getting on at anyone in particular really) that "if it was thought to be at the time of the fight or prior to it then it must be right"...yeah sure only if it fits you're agenda or your favourite of course.;)

people should be able to come to their own conclusions about any fight of course and not feel they have to tow the consensus viewpoint, and in some cases revision is worthy and correct.

Yeah, sounds about right. You're an unbiased poster btw, i just wanna say that. I always think that Jones-Calzaghe is potentially harder for Roy than most do, only because Calzaghe's generalship impresses me, dominating centre-ring with versatile methods. But this will sound strange, but i think he's just open for Roy to smash home some huge right hand and i actually favour Jones to stop him more so than any version of events wherein Jones schools him on points. Who knows though? A mysterious fantasy match if there ever was one for me. It's a bold claim that Calzaghe gets stopped seen as though it never happened in reality, but i do feel that way, either Jones by stoppage or Calzaghe on points, but i see the former.
