I agree he could of done more. But you can say that about Toney and Jones Jr aswell. They still had amazing careers
Very good fighter I see him making the hall and let us not debate whether he's an ATG or not lol. If it wasn't for those damn hand problems I bet he would've put more commitment in his punches later in his career. I don't care for his style but he gets my respect as a fighter.
I really would of liked to see him in with Ottke because even though the officiating in Ottke's fights was shocking,i think a prime Calzaghe,as he would of been when Ottke was around, would of given Ottke such a one sided beating and then knock him out that the judges would of been irrelevent. Im sure he rates the Kessler and Hopkins victories as his best, but im sure if you asked him he would tell ya that Ottke was the 1 who got away on him and it was a fight he really wanted.
Yes your right they were leagues ahead in steroid usage.atschatsch Skill wise Paper chin RJJ and Tony the fat ****er James.
I give him all the credit in the world for his consistency. He fought some good opposition along the way, but I don't hold him in as high regard as some do. His style of fighting isn't pleasing to my eye, and I do feel he waited to long to cross the ocean. He is indeed the best 168lbs fighter ever, but Jones would in all probability clown him at that weight in a prime for prime fantasy match-up. That's just speculation on my part, but as I say, Calzaghe deserves credit for his consistency and his ability to adapt in the face of adversity. A very good fighter.
I have a feeling this thread is going to be at least 8 pages. And I agree Calzaghe was a great fighter. It was too bad he didn't fight in the US sooner.
