MAyweather said he broke it in the Castillo fight (gift decision), but he said he also broke it in the Baldomir fight.

Coetzee broke both early in a match, yet outboxed his opponent despite the excruciating pain. (Mike Schutte may have been the opponent.) It is well known that Gerrie fracture his right hand with the next to last cross he hit Dokes with, yet went ahead and used it to apply the finisher, making it count in a critical situation. Coetzee was undefeated until John Tate, and is probably the heavyweight poster boy for winning with broken hands.

It was discovered after Dokes that all those fractures of his right hand were a symptom, not a cause, and that a bio-mechanical flaw in his shoulder was actually responsible. What's interesting to me though is that he also broke his left hand early on that least that one occasion mentioned above.

Barney Ross broke his left hand in his final successful title defense against Ceferino Garcia. It's one thing for an orthodox boxer to carry on with a fractured right. Prevailing with a fractured jabbing hand takes it up a notch. With his style, Barney's left was particularly valuable.

Jess Willard fractured the joint of his right index finger on the elbow of Frank Moran in third round action preserved on film. When it happened, Jess thought he had broken all the bones in that hand. All Willard needed to do to retain his title was be on his feet at the final bell, yet he did enough to handily win a decision outright.

I know that Muhammad Ali damaged his hands quite frequently in winning fights, but do n't know if he actually broke them at any time in the ring.

Albert Bompercat actually made a habit out of it. He broke his right hand four times in a row between '46 and '47.

Fenech broke both hands against Villasana if I'm remembering correctly.

Didn't Arreola break both his hands in his last fight?
