True, not really any worse then Joe C's. But the "20 defenses" EACH did at virtually the time should hurt both. Kinda hard to take either rec serious...

Ottke belongs in the hall of shame rather than the hall of fame.

Super computers have proven that Ottke could move down to 160 and beat Sugar Ray Robinson and in the same week move up to 175 and beat Archie Moore.

So many people want to knock Ottke, but his record is impressive and plenty have got in for less

Anyone who calls Ottke feather-fisted has never seen the Mundine fight.
He was out cold for several minutes.
Brewer,Johnson,Reid and all the other can be considered very lucky Sven didn't go all out on them and settled for a UD.
First ballot Hall of Famer for sure.

the only actual robberies i have seen on his recod are vs mitchell and reid. but then again some believe he won the mitchell fight. the reid fight is disgusting tho 10-8 becomes 8-10 because the ref was a nob.

all in all tho, why is anyone surprised about this? 34-0 20 defences, considered #1 SMW for a long time. unified 2 belts. he was always in with a shout

I dont think Ottke is HOF worthy. Think about it this was, if his SD over mediocre Byron Mitchell went the other way (as it should have) we would not be having this discussion. He beat a lot of B- fighters and never beat an elite fighter. tyson, tszyu, and Chavez are absolute no brainers. First ballot HOFers without question.

Ottke was a very good fighter, but he doesn't belong in the hall of fame. I won't say that his opposition was crap, but there certainly aren't any stellar people on that resume either. Furthermore, with only 34 bouts and 6 recorded stoppages, with several questionable decisions, and the sole claim of being a fragment titlist, he doesn't make it to the elite.....
