That's the thing though Flea, i can't speak for people who rate Mayweather on the same plane as the likes of Robinson. I've never done that and never will, it's silly. i understand our frustration at people overrating him but i'm just tring to throw it out there that it shouldn't mean we should underrate him as a counter-attack. Especially not here on classic, **** what the joke posters think, we're objective here. Like i said, clowned is far too much for m liking. Kalamba is a great comparison stlisticall, but again, to sa he's just some cheap immitation is too much for me mate!

 Teeto, I love ya to bits mate (no homo) but I think you're forgetting a certain Filipino fighter.

His resume is pathetic. That much is clear. If people are willing to except him as a great fighter based on that, I don't know what to say. I really can't see what it is about him that gets him so much respect from so many knowledgable fans (McGrain is another one who holds him in high regard) when so many others have done so much more, beaten better opponents, and appeared as good/better/more formidable skillsets etc etc

In response to your above post, I don't intentionally underrate him as some kind of 'I'm cool' backlash either. I just think he isn't anything special. He's done nothing that hasn't been done already. I wouldn't doubt for a second that you wouldn't place him as high as, as you said, Ray Robinson, but at the same time I don't see Floyd doing anything to make him particularly discernible from all the other 'very good' fighters there have been.

And Kalambay had a more varied offence, looked as good/better against better opposition, and fought the best around. Floyd is not on his level, I can't see how a claim could be made for Floyd having the more formidable skillset or having achieved mroe (the numerous belts in numerous weight class doesn't really impress me, when you look at who he beat and how he did it IMO)

it's all about opinions mate, I respect yours massively as you know :good

I should have expected tthat from you. I disagree:good

Nowhere near the ebst era but it's not shite. People on here crack me up when they compare the ebst fighters of today to EVERY grea fighter in history, as if every era was rammed with great fighters from 112 to heavy.

I'm not mate. Pac>Flod for resume, but i'll go on record now and say Flod will hand him his ass if hey fight, and i've consistently went on record throughout my posting life saying that Floyd is better than him. My opinion, i know, but it's a strong one.

On the respect front, it's mutual Flea, you know that as well. Don't get me wrong, Robinson would beat him severely (so i'll concede that he would clown him in that sense). Floyd does impress me mate, like you say hen, it's opinion. On the Kalambay comparison, he is more varied in offense, but it's like my Hopkins comparison, Hopkins is the most complete technician of our era for me, that means he is better technically than Maweather, ut Mayweather is just better than him for me, effectively. Not to mention resumes etc. Because if we're going to go right off resumes as a measure of how good the are, then Aaron Pryyor and Ricardo Lopez are **** (i'm not underraing his comp either), we know the're not.

All opinion then Flea, i can live with that.

I agree with all of this. A draw could be possible, but over 15 with no even scored rounds I'd lean (ever so slightly) towards Gavilan. I try not to use the old 'Napoles will get cut' theory when analysing him in fantasy fights.

Sorry to the thread starter, my off-the-cuff cheeky ***** of a remark has turned this into another Floyd thread :good

Has this turned into the 'fighters who would clown Mayweather'

I didn't see Whitaker clowning Hurtado or McGirt, he may well win but it would be razor thin

Well, Floyd will never fight Pac and will find it hard to eclipse him. So, I think it's pretty fair to say that, as it stands now, Pac will go down as the 'greater' fighter. Floyd just a missed oppurtunity.

Two wonderful Cuban greats...I do think that Napoles would win this one though...a decision..no knockdowns but the sharpness and precision of Mantequilla would have edged it for him.

No, and I'm not saying Floyd is '****' either, but I wouldn't necessarily rank Pryor or Lopez that highly either. In terms of H2H, they're top-notch due to what else in in their respective divisions (140lbs for Pryor obviously being more packed).

With Floyd, in a 135lb or 147lb discussion, he doesn't have that going for him.
