    It was more of a laugh than racism anyway, especially the gorilla, thrilla, manila stuff.

    In this day and age,it's highly unlikely that Ali would've adopted the stance that he did in the 60's and 70's. Different era. And as Bill says,it was n't genuine racism anyhow.

    I wouldn't term any of that **** as racism really - i think Ali was just a seriously angry young man - angry at the white system - you can't really blame him - and he was basically standing against anything or anyone who even hinted that they were willing to go quietly - he wanted vehement revolt not people who would try to be understanding - he's not like that now because he's more mature now - I think there are far more fighters around these days who display more hints of reverse racism than Ali ever did

    I was going to say. Look at Floyd Mayweather. He plays that card in every fight. Hes not the biggest name in boxing because hes an exciting fighter.
