Just listen to what Froch said about him.
George Groves is a solid dog and would make a fight with Ward worth watching. This tourney was supposed to showcase young talent if I remember correctly

Dawson is to much of a risk though I would think. It would be crazy to bring in someone who could actually win the tournament. Not because I wouldn't want to see Dawson in there (and it wouldn't be a shock if Ward beat him) but what if Dawson wins the whole thing as a part time participant.

Why? There's not a better prospect at 168lbs in the world. There just isn't. I know that Groves isn't as good now as he will be, but at least you're going to get a tough, skilled, warrior putting up a fight. I think he'd get beat, but it's not as big a mismatch as people think. Anyone who is writing Groves off, knows nothing about him.

    Are you being serious?
You'd throw Groves in with Ward right now?

I wouldn't, no, but if it was made, I wouldn't be too annoyed. Looking at the 168lb division, I think Groves has potential to beat a few of the top 15, so it's not a mismatch. It's just not something which should happen right now.

He's defo got potential mate, but to throw him in there with Ward, who is the real deal in my book, it would be suicidal just now.

Groves has so much improvements to make, which will only happen by taking his time and learning the game, fight by fight.

This is the stupidest ****ing idea I've heard on this forum.

I'm really trying my hardest to like the General Forum, but some people here really do make it difficult.

Groves is too open defensively, that would show up big time against a world class fighter like Ward.

What the hell happened to Marcus "Too Much" Johnson? He beat 25-0 Derek Edwards on Shobox last spring, and than fell of the edge of the earth! Bringing him in would be better than Groves or Bika.

You'll all know who George Groves is in a few years.

The lads got a big future ahead of him and is one hell of a prospect - I back him to go further than Degale. He also beat Degale in the Ams and for those who don't know, theres a bit of a British rivarly between them that will hopefully see them get in on down the line.

To even think about a fight between him and Andre Ward now as ridiculous, are you actually being serious? He's far to green at the moment.

He's not bad, he's just a prospect, but by no means is he ready for Ward. Look at the way he drops both his hands, especially his left. That journeyman caught him clean and abit off balance. He's got good speed, but no way is he ready. Let him fight Pirog, Jacobs, or Golovkin and then we can take it from there. Beating any of those 3 would be a big win.
