Lets face it, Vitali wasn't good enough to take the torch from an out 0f shape 38 yr old. If he was half as good as people think he shouldn't have had any issues at all with with that version of Lewis. We've seen Old fighters lose time after time to young guys with talent. Seriously, Did Marciano lose to OLD Louis? Did Holmes lose to OLD Ali? Did Tyson lose to OLD Holmes? Did Holyfield lose to OLD Foreman? Did Vitali lose to Old Lewis...:yep:yep:yep

    Now wait a minute.

I have always said that Lewis won fair and square, and as much as I like Vitaly, I am a bigger fan of Lewis', who was a better fighter.

That being said, the obvious difference with Lewis-Klit and the other other three fights you named is that in those, the aging champ had lost the belt to lesser fighters (though Ali got it back, he lost it to a joke figher), retired, and come back. Lewis may have been 37, but he was still the champ and by all indication, in his physical prime. In fact, Steward was only a year before talking about how he had not reached his physcial best yet. If Lewis was out of shape- then shame on him. It is irrelevant. Besides, Vitaly only had the couple of weeks to train.

Lewis is a first tier atg champion, who beat a minor great, or perhaps only Hall of Fame heavy in Vitaly Klitschko, in an incredibly exciting heavyweight fight. Those who try to make Vitaly out to be the real winner, or think he chased Lewis into retirement are kidding themselves. Those who also try to minimize Vitaly's gutsy performance by saying that Lewis was past it or out of shape are similarly delusional.

Lennox Lewis won. Had Vitali continued he would have been stopped. In my opinion Lennox made the best retirement ever, he knew he didnt have it anymore and stopped before embaressing himself. When its all said and done, prime Lewis would beat Vitali any day.

people seem to forget Vitali was winning that fight and lost on the cut ALONE.

usually when this happens a rematch is in order, and we all know Lewis declined because he knew defeat was inevitable in a rematch.

    Agreed. Here are other examples:

A peak Bowe beating the gob **** outta Billy "The Kid" Zumbrun

A peak Byrd moving down 35 lbs to teach Shaun George the ABC's of boxing

and a peak Ruiz dominating a "green" David Haye

Funny how Vitali is the 39 year old guy now but hes not fat, and in better condition that the fat tattood arreola that 28. and the British "Heavyweight Savior" who is only 29 and in his prime still wont entertain a fight with him. (we he will, until everything is agreed on and he takes it home to sign and never comes back)

Forget Lewis, that was 7 years ago......send that coward paper belt holder haye over to finish up what lewis didnt :good and try to get some of his pride back after his last candy ass bail out:rofl

A peak James Toney dominating the uber-skilled Sam Peter.

A peak Joe Louis beating up Rocky Marciano.

A peak Ken Norton handling Gerry Cooney's bombs and then schooling him later.

A peak Evander Holyfield stopping John Ruiz.

A peak Jack Johnson outlasting Jess Willard.

Vitali was ahead of the cards and Lewis was finished. Max was sitting right behind Lewis' corner.

Eventhough Klitschko was ahead, the momentum of the fight clearly had changed to Lewis.

Klitschko was dominating the first 3 rounds, but after the 4th he barely landed a meaningfull punch, wheras Lewis was throwing bombs and he landed them.

They both were tired, so it is hard to say who would´ve won if the fight had gone on. But for those who think Vitaly would´ve knocked Lewis out after the 6th, how should he have done, when he wasn´t able to land any meaningfull after the 4th ? Vitaly was as tired as Lewis, still Lewis had more pop in his punches.

judges have had the scored wrong plenty of times, they are as bad as the typical u.s. jury system...see what they want.....
lewis through less punches while landing at nearly 50% (i think 46% was the number) Vitali around 36%
Unfortunately score cards in your favor only help is you dont get your face shredded before then.
Lewis was way ahead on the not getting his face beat in scorecard
