that is a great example of fighter just doing a impressive feat in going the distance.

i think he was just as much in the thick of it in his second fight with holmes as he was in the first. holmes i remember was fighting so blood thirsty for redemption in the second fight, he was just trying to manhandle and break spinks in there. i dident give spinks the second fight, but like someone said, he may have fought even more impressively in the second fight, taking a beating and actually rallying and finding a rythm late in their second fight.

Yeah i always like it when Spinks unloaded on big men like he did at times with Holmes and especially with Cooney. It showed heart, and belief in his own hand speed and strength.

Ruddock showed tremendous courage in the Tyson rematch.
He engaged in a brutal, grueling slugfest war involving the trading of ball-breaking lowblows, for 12 rounds with the best non-Rooney version of Tyson & suffered a broken jaw, two broken ribs & facial swelling like the Elephant man, while inflicting a perforated eardrum & broken ribs on Tyson. :!:

Ezzard Charles staying in there with the raging Rocky Marciano - i just don't know how he managed to stay up - he shipped serious amounts of punishment in that one - infact I'd hazzard a guess he took more power punches in that than any other fighter in a heavyweight title fight - he looked like he'd been hit by a bus at the end of it

Robinson-Olson II. Ray knocked out Bobo in 12 the first time they fought in Philly, October of 1950. This initial match has been cited by JohnGarfield as maybe the final peak performance of Robby's career. Olson would be famously knocked out by the Sugar Man twice more in 1955 and 1956. But in San Francisco, on March 13, 1952, Bobo got through some rough patches to the final bell, dropping to a knee and crossing himself at the end before the congratulatory exchange. Coming between the Turpin rematch and Graziano, this was a tough version of Robby to last the championship distance with, and Ray made an honest effort to take Olson out, right to the closing moments.

Really? It's not like Mayweather was pressing for a stoppage too hard. Marquez was just schooled, but i don't rate that in this context.

Shame he never showed that same belief vs peak Tyson.

Nah, in all seriousness, just about anyone in the world would have had `too much respect` for Mike Tyson of 88, I dont hold that against Spinks & I really dont think a fully confident Spinks could have prevented the outcome, Tyson was quite literally a machine back then.

more recent times rodrigo guerrero inhis fight against vic darchinyan....i honestly don't know how the hell guerrero didn't go down even once much less stagger from the punches...vic was repeatedly ripping him with some flush shots all night...straight ****ing him up...i wanted the ref to stop the fight cuz i thought vic was going to kill that kid in the ring...thank god it wasn't the case but type of toughness is very admirable
